"Bernie's Beat: London's Coworking Pulse – AI, Events, & Local Rhythms"
Bernie J Mitchell
?? Coworking Strategist & Creator | I help coworking spaces go from unseen to thriving community hubs
It's your friend Bernie here, I'm on my way to London for our September London Coworking Assembly Breakfast Show.
Each month when I return to London I crave running around catching up with all the podcasters, writers, gamers, designers, other creators and founders.
All of these people are in local and neighbourhood coworking spaces, and I've met them over the years via coworking and Creator Write Club and other meet ups, workshops, Bar Camps and unconference gigs.
??It's tempting to sail into some cheesy marketing speak and say "they all have a story to share" - but it's about meeting up and us egging each other on.
A lot of us have seen each other start and end things in varying degrees of mess and sometimes triumph.
One of the best places to meet these people is the Last Friday event at Impact Brixton in a few days time - scroll down for the 'mate rate' ticket and come and join in!
??In these notes:
????London Coworking Assembly Breakfast Show
We're in person at LentaSpace in St Katherines Dock London and will be livestreaming on Linkedin.

??How will Artificial Intelligence (AI) help you run your coworking business better?
??How can you serve people in your coworking spaces better who are using AI?
??Will AI take your job?
??Will AI take the jobs of the members of your coworking space?
The co-creators for this month's breakfast show are:
We'll kick off with a talk by Kofi Oppong founder of Urban MBA followed by a panel and audience debate:
Led by: Salima Chebbah
With views and debate fuelled by:

?? Linkedin Live Steam for the Breakfast Show
Thanks to Dan Jones and Laurie Dennard we're able to run a LinkedIn live-stream for tomorrow's event.
As the event is online, this is a great opportunity for other people from the European Coworking Assembly community to connect and join in too.
There has already been debate in WhatsApp groups and other online places.

?? Creator Write Club in Coworking Spaces
In my experience, small groups of people meeting informally to work together and talk about their work is where the magic happens.

I was just wondering around London with Gareth I. Jones talking about this!?
How people give up too soon because they don't have feedback or a buddy to find out that it is worth it - Gareth I. Jones says people need to "stay on the bus a bit longer" to see they are there.
Our crew have been holding Meetup events in London's indie coworking spaces since 2008.?
We've run thousands Meetup events and at some times had thousand's of members across all the groups - it was where we found the Creator Economy in the early days.?
In 2014 me and a group of fellow members in the first Mainyard Studios in Hackney started what is now Creator Write Club.?
In 2015 we also started one at @Work Hubs in Euston and Philip Dodson posted the event on Meetup - which I thought was a crap idea.?
The next week fifteen to twenty people arrived from nowhere to write and some of those people have become my best creator mates ever!
?? Creator Write Club 2023
COVID killed our Meetup empire and our zest was already dying, so we killed it all and kept the Creator Write Club.
Every week creators, authors, freelancers, academics, YouTubers, comedians, parents, marketers, bloggers, developers, event managers, journalists, activists, musicians, poets, lawyers, sailors and other independent self-starters meet to support each other.
At the Creator Write Club we welcome beginners and long-term pros - don't be shy!
You don't need to be a coworking space member to participate; we are all about connecting people.
And if you run a coworking space, it is a great way to get out of your own space and meet other spaownersner and get some work done off site!
RSVP - two-hour free-to-attend Creator Write Club in London.

???Coworking Values Podcast - co-creators
I'm podcasting in person with Catherine Park from Colour in Tech for the new Coworking Values Podcast Community is the Key series.
Our new Coworking Values Podcast is co-creation with Christian Schmitz and Lucy McInally for SALTO Systems .?
Everyone loves talking about community, why is it the key and how to make it happen?
Our first co-creation experiment started with andcards and Helga Moreno and Igor Dzhebyan - we had a few creative hicups - but knowing your in a creative project rather than a 'sponsorship package' is much rewarding.?
And Helga Moreno is one of the hardest working marketers in show business!?
Also in the last few weeks we've had epic podcast talks with:
????Everything Local Coworking London
The Deskmag 2023 Global Coworking Survey found that local coworking is thriving in the UK.
In fact, the UK has one of the highest levels of local coworking in the world, with over 70% of coworking spaces being locally owned and operated.
But if you get your coworking news from click-bait-National Enquirer type online mags you think there was only one coworking company in the world and this mega corp is going down the pan and taking the industry with it.
The reality is the light is on and burning brightly for the masses and the local economies they serve.
My mate Aceil Haddad who wrote about how one company should not define the coworking industry in the UK - read it here on LinkedIn .
I'm looking forward to visiting these new local coworking spaces like...
I'll also be at Town Square Islington , Creative Works and Impact Brixton.
?? One more thing..
I post a video here on Linkedin (nearly) every weekday that is inspired by what I hear from these coworking spaces, their owners and their members.
By the time you read the next edition of this newsletter I'll have posted around 150 sixty second videos that pose a question to help you think about your coworking business, or your community.
You can follow along here on LinkedIn every week day - click that bell on my profile !
Thanks for reading, please come and connect with me and other people at these events and meet ups - they happen every month and really are open to everyone.
Thank you again for your time and attention reading this.
Have a remarkable day.
Be careful out there.?
It is a jungle.
