Berghain Club
Berlin is known worldwide for its club scene. In fact, some would say that Berlin is the best clubbing city in the world and because of this, this city attracts millions of tourists every year. There are different types of clubs and some even require a dress code. In this article I will describe the club that is considered by many to be the most exclusive in the world and this is the Berghain Club.
?
In addition, I will provide you with some tips that will significantly increase your chances of entering the club, since it is known for its strict entry policy.?Some claim that the percentage of entry into the club for the average raver is 50:50 and some claim that it is actually 60:40, meaning there is a chance of 60% that the raver gets rejected and only 40% that he will enter. However, you shouldn't care about that since after reading this article you will increase your chances dramatically to enter the club.?
?
Berghain was founded in 2004 and its building used to be a former post-war power plant.?The club is a techno club, also called the world capital of techno (basically the club is also considered to be a gay club).?Like some of the clubs in Berlin, the Berghain club also has a dress code (but more true, it actually has a dress style). Many think that the club's dress code is black clothing, but this is not necessarily the case. Wearing black clothes could definitely help you to get in, but your style of dress will ultimately determine whether you get into the club or not. And this is the mistake of many ravers, they think that they simply have to wear black and that's it.
?
The club opens every weekend starting on Saturday at 23:59 PM and is operating non-stop until Monday at 06:00 AM in the morning. Most of the ravers arrive on Saturday evening, but I do not recommend coming to the club during these hours because, as far as I understand, a huge line starts as early as 22:00 PM and in many cases the waiting time in the queue can reach 4 or even 5 hours. Because of this, I recommend arriving in the early hours of Sunday morning, and therefore it will significantly shorten your waiting time in the queue. It all started about a month ago at the beginning of July 2023 when I decided to come to the club.
?
I arrived on Sunday July 9, 2023 at 7:30 AM. Of course, I wore black but my clothes were elegant black. I had on elegant black shoes, elegant black trousers and a tight black T shirt. There were a total of seven people in the queue and all of them got rejected including me. A few seconds later I noticed a raver stepping outside of the club. I scanned him with my eyes and noticed that he was wearing a black net shirt (also known as mesh shirt), dark blue Bermuda shorts, regular sport shoes (they weren't black) and high socks that reached almost to his knees. In addition, he carried a small backpack on his back and had a mustache on his face. I exchanged a few words with him and said that I got?rejected.
He immediately scanned my clothing and then advised me to change my shoes (as I mentioned I had black elegant shoes). He also advised me to come again at 16:00 PM because according to him there is a?bouncer's change at that time and then I can try to enter once again. I thought about it and decided not to return to the club that day but to postpone my arrival until I have the appropriate clothing style.
?
I knew I had to purchase appropriate clothing items, so I decided to purchase the following items:
? Light black shoes (not elegant, preferable weight light black sport shoes)
? Black net shirt
? Black Bermuda for men
? small black backpack
I decided to purchase all the items in black to avoid unnecessary risks.
Where should you buy the items? Just type in Google search the items I have mentioned and you will find lots of results. There are many online shops from which you can order.
I ordered the net shirt and the small black backpack online but I have decided to purchase the black light shoes and the?Bermuda shorts from a store.
I physically purchased the black shoes and Bermuda shorts from the store - My Style Sportswear. The?store is located at Hermannstra?e 66. This is a store with a huge variety of top quality clothing (you will be able to find almost everything you need there).
?
By the way, I always recommend to carry a backpack as in my opinion it will increase your chances of getting into the club as it shows seriousness, preparation and willingness on your part to stay in the club for a long time.
?
Some ravers say that it is better to wear leather pants or a leather jacket, but for me personally, I don't feel comfortable at all with leather items, so I chose the items I described since I knew that with those items I would feel comfortable. Remember that you should choose clothing items that you feel comfortable with. There are a lot of different variations of clothing items and my advice to you is to just be creative and feel comfortable with your clothing items.?
?
You will get another advantage if you arrive with bare skin for example as I mentioned (open net shirt) or very short pants. The goal is to show openness and not suffocate yourself in black clothing that covers your whole body. Also, don't load yourself with too many accessories and jewelry because it will look inauthentic, artificial and make you look like you're trying too hard to get in, in the eyes of the bouncers. Don't wear a costume (remember it's not a Halloween party) so I'll conclude by saying that I just thought of the following things: light sport gothic style, half-naked, authentic, unconventional lightweight wear clothing).?
?
In addition, I would like to add that in my opinion, if you have piercings on your face, tattoos on your face, a mustache or a beard, this is an additional advantage for you when entering the club.
?
Remember that you need to understand the mindset of the club and therefore, it is not about how tall or good looking you are, it is more about your style and creativity (the bouncers want to have a diversity of ravers with the same vibe).
Imagine that you go to a club and everyone looks like a supermodel with the same body structure, maybe it can be nice for a while but at some point, it will get boring. If you really don't know what to wear just visit NAKT website and there you'll be able to get more ideas (the website offers a variety of techno and rave outfits). If you still find it difficult to connect to the outfits, just try to be creative, for example arrive with a long black kimono or a cool black robe.

So, last week on Sunday morning on July 30, 2023 I arrived again at the club (you can reach it on foot from the Warschauer Stra?e U Bahn station or from the Berlin Ostbahnhof?S Bahn station, I came from the Warschauer Stra?e U Bahn station). I arrived at the club area at 7:20 AM and noticed that this time there was a longer queue. I stood in line and there were four tourists in front of me. Two of them were British and two of them were French. The line was quite fast and quite quickly we moved towards the entrance of the club (when I say quite quickly, I mean in Berghain terms of course, a total waiting time?of 40 minutes).
When we approached the front door, one?raver pushed himself in front of me in the queue and stood exactly between me and the tourists. He was a muscular guy (yes, this also happens). He was wearing a tight dark hat, black Bermuda shorts made of thin fabric, light black shoes and a tight gray shirt. He actually looked like a worker in?a factory. I think he was of Turkish or Arab origin.
?
Remember that even if ravers overtake you in the queue, you must keep it cool and calm (this is not worth an argument in the queue). While waiting in the?queue, you have to be cool and act like you don't really care if you get into the club or not, and that's what I did. Also don't mess around with your smartphone while waiting in the queue.
?
The pair of British tourists got rejected (they didn't have the dress code nor the style) then it was the turn of the pair of French tourists and here something interesting happened. One of the French tourists was dressed in exactly the right style to enter the club but his friend was dressed in completely normal clothes. The bouncer almost let the French tourist in (the one with the appropriate style), but when he talked to him and realized that there were two of them and therefore refused to let them in, and here it is important to note that if you are coming with a partner, it is important that you both be dressed in the same style, otherwise a situation would arise that one of the partners could simply prevent both of you from entering.?
?
If you decide to come to the club, come alone or with only one partner (in my opinion, three people coming as one group is too much). If you are a large group of people remember to split into pairs of two or just enter as individuals.
?
The turn of the muscular guy with the tight hat who was standing in front of me in the queue came, and he entered, then my turn came and the bouncer signaled to me to enter as well.?Always remember that the fact that a person was rejected or entered the club before you in the queue does not affect you at all because each individual is reviewed in the eyes of the bouncer thoroughly.
?
At the entrance to the club, you will be checked carefully (like at an airport). In case you have a drinking bottle, you will have to leave it at the entrance (you can take it later at the exit). It is also forbidden to take pictures in the club, so they will put stickers on your smartphone that will seal your camera lenses. The entrance fee is 25€ (cash only, there is no option to pay with a credit card).?After the payment you will receive a band that will be attached to your arm and that will allow you to go out and return to the club during that weekend (this is the proof that you paid).?

On the ground floor there is a clock room where you can deposit your equipment and take it later on the way out. Imagine you are entering a huge factory. If you haven't visited other clubs in Berlin before and this is the first club you will visit, chances are you'll probably experience a culture shock. On the ground floor there is the exit to the garden. During the day there is a DJ in the garden complex which includes a large area as well as a bar. If you go back and enter right into the club, you can find the large dance floor one floor above and enjoy techno music played on a high quality sound system (this is actually the main dance floor). On this floor you can also find several bars as well as black rooms (where ravers can also have sexual intercourse. This is not new and it exists in several other clubs in Berlin).?
?
On the next floor you can find several more bars including the Panorama Bar. Next to the Panorama Bar there is a cool dance floor smaller than the main one but still really cool, and on the last floor you can find the ice cream bar, a bar where you can buy ice cream (you can see if the ice cream bar is open by the glowing sign next to the staircase leading to the last floor where the ice cream bar is located).
?
You have to keep an open mind because in the club you will also come across ravers dancing half naked or even fully naked. If you do not feel comfortable with this openness, then maybe this club is not for you. For me personally, Berlin is a liberal city where everyone can express themselves however they want, and that's why I really connected with the vibe of the club.
?
When I entered the club it was 8:00 AM and I stayed there until 16:00 PM. I then went back to my apartment, showered and went back to the club again at 21:00 PM. There was a small queue for those who were already in the club and wanted to return to it. When I was waiting in the queue one of the ravers looked at me and asked me if I knew Len Faki. "Who is he?" I asked and he replied that he is a German DJ of Turkish origin and that I look a lot like him. He showed me a photo of Len Faki from his smartphone and I could see the resemblance. This DJ used to work in the Berghain club previously. Then I wondered: "Wait, is that why I entered the club? Because I look like that DJ? Nah, it couldn't be, I got rejected the first time, remember?" I stayed in the club until 2:00 AM and in total I was there for 13 hours.
There are many videos on Youtube explaining how to enter the Berghain, but in my opinion these are the best ones:
?
The first Youtube video is the video of Radical Living (this is for English speakers).
Click here to watch - Get into Berghain
?
The second one is in German, so if you speak German check it out.?I call it the Berghain's experiment although I do not agree with the entire analysis of this video. Click here to watch - Berghain's experiment
In case you get rejected, don't worry, it doesn't mean you're not cool or don't have style, it simply means your style doesn't fit for Berghain. You can try again at the bouncer's shift change or come back and try again next week.?
And remember -?What happens in Berghain stays in Berghain ??
