Benefits of Successful On boarding | Employee On boarding...

Have you ever had a fantastic onboarding experience into your new employment and that made you think “yes! Obviously, I made the right decision”

Well, if you lived that then you are one from very few minorities in the world, onboarding process at most of the companies is about completing the joining formalities and finishing the paperwork, in another word it well known as administrative task… well it is not!

The purpose of on-boarding should be setting new hires up for success and minimize the time it takes for them to become comfortable in their new roles. This only works if on-boarding processes are designed strategically and effectively with clear target goal at the end.

According to a recent online survey conducted by The Harris Poll on behalf of CareerBuilder and Silk-road, 93 percent of employers agree a good on-boarding experience is critical to influence a new hire’s decision to stay with the organization.

Why is Employee On boarding Important?

An effective employee onboarding process will make new hires feel valuable, engaged, and understand what their role and how it affects the organization. Longer term it increase their productivity and performance.

Research from Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) shows that turnover during the first 18 months on the job can be as high as 50 percent, organization should have a look at their strategy of employees onboarding to decrease the voluntary turn over.

?

What is the ‘’CORE’’ of successful employees onboarding experience?

?In most of the organization average onboarding programs goes around 90day (in some companies its around 30 days only), but according to Gallup’s “Creating an Exceptional Onboarding Journey for New Employees” report, new employees need 12 months to reach their full performance potential

?Building a poor foundation between the employers and employee on first stages will lock all potential opportunities and increase lack of employee’s confidence in their new role.

A strong onboarding experience is not only about the length of the program, new comers involvement with their team, colleagues & peers is incredibly important. However, the line manages have the most powerful impact on the new employees onboarding experience. When the line manager involved & engaged with their new hires that will build a strong healthy relationship at early stages which make the new employees feel more comfortable in the environment, yet this skills is not available in all managers, some organization may adopt a mentorship program or their new heirs using their internal consultant, coach or mentor or even creating a departmental onboarding team. ?

The other crucial factors of how successful the onboarding experience can be is the clarity! Set up the goals that the organization wants to achieve from the onboarding program is incredibly important, how we measure if the onboarding experience is successful! Have we landed correctly with our new employee? Does he or she understand all the policies and process? Does he or she understand the role and the job expectation? Do they have the right tools and support to move forward ?? and loads of other elements needs to be identified and introduces to make the onboarding experience successful.

?Finally, the support that the new employees’ needs are particularly important to make them feel engaged in their new culture, support can be translated into effective on job training, or 121 weekly/monthly with line manager, peers and college, constructive feedback have a high audience as well. And lot of another factor’s organization can adopt to make the onboarding experience successful and have the right positive impact.

?Last thoughts.

Creating a culture of happy, engaged, and inspired employees starts with their onboarding experience. A strategic onboarding program is way ahead than completing paperwork and PowerPoint file with company process. There are more strategic advantages of a successful onboarding experience such as improve the retention, attract the talents, and increase productivity.

“yes! Obviously, I made the right decision” Well, if you lived that then you are one from very few minorities in the world...... "I must say that who ever lived this moment are really few and blessed" I wish and strive to find a place where I can proudly say that yes I have made the best decision.
