If there’s one thing I can’t get enough of, it’s the sauna.??
Seriously, I step into one at least four times a week.
Living by the sea in Brighton, I especially love saunas where you can step out, feel the fresh air on your skin, and take a cold shower while admiring the waves ??.
Once, I even had the pleasure of spotting a seal lounging on the beach—a stone’s throw away from where I stood. Magical.
While my regular sauna is indoors, it’s still a highlight of my weekly routine. The heat, the steam, and—more importantly—the?people.
Saunas have this way of bringing all kinds of different people together. Of course, some conversations might be a bit?meh, but most are fascinating, funny, or simply heartwarming.
Here’s how saunas boost your body and mind??.
1???Stress Relief and Mental Clarity???♀??
A sauna isn’t just a physical cleanse—it’s mental therapy too. Spending time in the heat helps calm your nervous system and lower cortisol levels (stress hormone). It’s like hitting the reset button for your mind, leaving you more focused and calm.
2???Detox Your Body Naturally?????
The sweat you produce in a sauna is your body’s way of flushing out toxins. Heavy sweating can rid your body of harmful substances and even improve your complexion, leaving your skin looking fresh and glowing.?
3???Boost Your Heart Health?????
Did you know that regular sauna use improves circulation and gives your cardiovascular system a workout? The heat causes blood vessels to widen, which also helps reduce blood pressure over time. Some studies even suggest saunas lower the risk of heart disease.

4???Better Sleep, Deeper Rest?????
Sauna sessions help relax your muscles and calm your mind, making it easier to drift off into deep, restorative sleep.?
5???Aches and Pain—reduced!?????
Whether you’ve overdone it at the gym or just feel sore after a long day, the soothing heat of the sauna can ease joint pain and relax muscles.?
Bonus Tip!
For those of us lucky enough to live near water ??, following your sauna session with a cold plunge (as demonstrated in the picture above!) has extra health perks. It's invigorating, boosts circulation further, and activates endorphins—the feel-good hormones.??
I also think there’s something special about sharing a sauna with people from all walks of life.
It’s a space where a group of sweaty humans chat about everything from travel plans to life philosophies. What's not to love about that!? Sometimes you laugh; sometimes you nod along to someone’s stories, sometimes you don't really want to say anything.
Occasionally, you might just make great friends or connections like I have.
What do you do that you love and is good for you?
To your health,
Jules
