The Benefits and Risks of Incorporating Explosives and Fire Training, and the Use of Explosive Detection Dogs, in Private Security Companies.

This week I had the pleasure and privilege to attend a training on ballistics and firearm, explosives, fire and bombs at the International Peace Support Training Centre - Kenya. I gained alot of knowledge about the said topics but I will talk about few insights on explosives, bombs threats, fire and use of explosive detection dogs (EDDs).

Explosives detection dogs are trained canines that are specifically trained to identify and locate explosives, and other related materials, by their sense of smell. These highly skilled animals are typically used in various fields, including law enforcement, military, and private security. In the private security industry, explosives detection dogs are an essential tool for safeguarding high-risk environments and mitigating the potential risks associated with the use of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) by adversaries.

Incorporating Explosives and Fire Training in Private Security Companies.

Private security companies play an essential role in ensuring the safety and security of various commercial, industrial, and residential properties. Given the increasing number of security threats, it is crucial for private security companies to offer training that focuses on the identification, detection, and response to explosives and fire-related incidents. Incorporating these elements in the security training curriculum can help ensure that private security personnel are better equipped to deal with a variety of potential security threats, including those related to explosives and fire.

Training security personnel on the use of explosives detection dogs can be an effective strategy for mitigating the risks associated with the use of IEDs. These dogs can detect explosives from a distance and can cover a large area in a relatively short time. The dogs are trained to identify and locate different types of explosives, including those that are hidden or disguised. As a result, the use of explosives detection dogs can help enhance the effectiveness of security patrols and minimize the risks associated with potential security threats.

How Security Guards Can Use Explosives Detection Dogs in their Day-to-Day Activities.

Private security guards can use explosives detection dogs in various ways to enhance security in high-risk environments. These dogs can be used to screen visitors, employees, and packages for the presence of explosives or other related materials. They can also be used to sweep areas, such as parking lots, loading docks, and entry points, to ensure that there are no explosive devices or materials present.

In addition, explosives detection dogs can be used to assist in the investigation of bomb threats or suspicious packages. The dogs can help to identify the location of explosives or other related materials, which can then be safely removed or neutralized by trained professionals. The use of explosives detection dogs can help minimize the risks associated with handling or removing explosive materials.

Lastly, by incorporating explosives and fire training in their security training curriculum, private security companies can help ensure that their personnel are better equipped to deal with potential security threats. The use of explosives detection dogs can help enhance the effectiveness of security patrols and minimize the risks associated with potential security threats.\
