I wish you pain and suffering. Yes, you heard me right. Pain and suffering are your ultimate mentors.
The Role of Pain in Growth
Reflect on the most challenging moments in your life. Did they defeat you, or did they build you up? Pain and suffering are the uninvited teachers that life presents. Jensen Huang, the visionary CEO of NVIDIA, illustrates this with clarity. When he faces real-life challenges, he doesn’t run from them.. he runs with them. And that’s where your character is truly tested and refined.
High Expectations and Resilience
You would think graduates of prestigious institutions like Stanford would create sky-high expectations for themselves, right? There’s a paradox: high expectations can sometimes lead to low resilience. The higher our expectations, the harder we fall when things don’t go as planned. What truly matters is how we get up AFTER those falls.
When I listened to Jensen Huang wish for his team to experience pain and suffering, I immediately knew I would remember that quote forever! This isn’t out of malice but out of a deep desire to see them grow more resilient and face any challenges with incredible strength. He uses the phrase “pain and suffering” with purpose because he knows it’s the crucible where greatness happens.
Jensen openly shares that his low expectations are a strength. He doesn’t collapse under pressure; he thrives in it. He welcomes challenges because he knows they are an opportunity for growth.

A Biblical Perspective
Even the scriptures echo this sentiment. Romans 5:3 encourages us to rejoice in our sufferings because suffering produces perseverance, and perseverance produces character, and character produces hope. This wisdom isn’t just spiritual; it’s a practical blueprint for life. Pain is not our enemy – it’s our ‘uninvited teacher.’ It’s where perseverance is born, and character is molded.
Embrace The Pain and Suffering
Don’t shy away from it. Don’t hide. Face it with courage and allow it to strengthen you mentally, emotionally, and physically. It’s time to stop fearing pain and start using it as a personal growth tool.
In the words of John C. Maxwell, “Growth is the great separator between those who succeed and those who do not. When I see a person beginning to separate themselves from the pack, it’s almost always due to personal growth.”
Embrace the struggle, welcome the pain, and watch as it transforms you into the greatest version of yourself.

3 个月This is very ableist; those with chronic pain or other disabilities aren't going to "shape success" out of pain or suffering. Growth generated from a challenge is a good thing, sure, but think about your potential audience before posting platitudes.
