The benefits of networking

I was bored with my old business cards, so I created some new ones. And took them with me when I went networking on Wednesday. They went down so well, I may need to have more printed.

Networking is such a powerful tool for a freelancer and I'd lost sight of it somewhat recently. Far too busy. Now I'm getting back into it and enjoying the process.

Face to face is unbeatable (although backing it up with online) and I've always thrived when meeting new people.

Earlier in the year, I met a radio presenter whose musical taste and knowledge I've always respected. He was advising young British jazz musicians on career progression and he emphasised the value of face time - the concept, not the app.

You can tell so much from people's language and body language when they're in front of you - so much more than words or images on a screen.

So expect to see me at a networking event near you soon. With my new business cards.
