Benefits of Integrating Stamping + Assembly Automation

Stamping and assembly automation are traditionally managed as standalone processes.? The current business climate emphasis on cost reduction, yield improvement, operator safety, and process flow is leading many companies to consider integrating these operations.? Technology improvements in Manufacturing Execution (MES) software and process standardization are enabling this development.?
How to integrate Stamping and High-Speed Automated Assembly?
One of the best ways to integrate stamping with high-speed automated assembly is to perform all stamping operations in the press, except singulation.? The material strip receives all stamping operations but is maintained as a bandolier.? The bandolier is then fed into the first stage of the high-speed automated assembly machine.? This is important because it allows the assembly machine to securely capture the bandolier in-feed.? The part singulation is performed in the assembly machine (not the stamping press) after the part it is securely captured. The part then proceeds according to the assembly sequence.
