Benefits at Hardsuit Labs

Everyone wants to know what they are getting when they start a new job. That is more than expected, of course. But the benefits and fringe benefits of working with certain companies often get overlooked.

Today, we will brag about the benefits of working for us at Hardsuit Labs.

Benefits and fringe benefits matter, especially in a field like gaming. No matter how much a company strives for a healthy work-life balance, often, it is a lofty goal that is not achieved easily by employers or employees.

We are proud to have created an excellent work-life balance here at Hardsuit Labs and do everything we can to create benefits that emphasize this. Let us start by looking at the benefits you might find with most tech companies these days.

Medical, dental, and vision are all provided with Hardsuit Labs. Not only are these important for the team’s productivity, but a healthy employee has fewer worries that will impact their lives outside of work. We cover 100% of the cost for our team members to ensure they can feel safe and taken care of, with options for buy-up plans for everyone who might wish for them. Not only that, but we also cover 50% of the cost for family members.

Our insurance coverage does not end with health insurance, either. Insurance for short- and long-term disability are included as well as life insurance. Something could always go wrong due to unexpected turns in life. We are doing our best to ensure that, should something happen; we are ready to help our team and their families.

We also support the use of flexible spending accounts. Even minor medical expenses can add up over the year, especially for those who need daily medication, frequent check-ins with doctors, or other medical maintenance. An FSA account to assist with these many small purchases can be a life-changer. And even if it is just money put aside for emergencies that might not even occur, money left over can be used to buy gifts for family members who might need help with eligible purchases. Further, through our FSA provider, parents can set aside money for a pre-tax benefit useable for daycare or dependent care expenses. Got parking or transit needs? Our FSA can assist with those, too!

Another benefit we offer is an Employee Assistance Program - and EAP. We have talked about it previously, but to recap: The EAP helps with the small roadblocks that you might stumble across in life. Legal aid, mental health issues, nurse helplines - the helping hand you might need outside of work to ensure your work-life balance is upheld.

?We offer a 401K retirement plan, to which Hardsuit Labs contributes four percent of the money invested by team members. While especially younger team members often feel that they don’t need to save up; money is left on the table. We encourage team members to invest early for their retirement, and our incentive has convinced more than one team member to start early.

Like other tech companies, we also offer flexible work hours. While our core hours run from ten to four, each employee can choose if this means starting at seven in the morning and working until four or starting at ten in the morning and working until seven in the evening. Adjusting one’s workday like this is especially important for those with other responsibilities outside of work. A parent needs to pick up or drop off their kids at school. A club or activity meets in the afternoon, or the morning workout takes extra time in the morning. No matter how someone’s day needs to be structured, we allow the team to choose their work times around our core hours based on their needs!

And when it comes to time off, we treat everyone in the company with equity. No matter which position, whether you have been with us since our formation in 2015 or just joined last week: Everyone has a front-loaded four weeks of paid time off. When we hire you, we welcome you – as someone who might need to tend to family matters, move, be invited to weddings, and so on. To ensure every team member feels like they belong to us, we extend our trust in this manner.

Our company’s success is due to each team member’s heartfelt work. As such, we have created a profit-sharing plan that allows Hardsuit Labs to give back to its employees. ??

We offer hybrid and remote work to our team. While we strive to have a healthy work culture by welcoming the team back into our offices after the pandemic, we also understand that the realities have shifted for many team members. Hybrid options such as part-time in the office, part-time at home, entirely in the office, or even fully remote for those who live outside of Washington are all options we are proud to have created for our team.

When you work in our office, we want you to feel comfortable. Our desks are convertible to standing desks to break up the routine of sitting idle while working. We encourage the team to bring in flair – be that posters or figurines, to show off what matters to them. Parts of our office are hang-out spaces where we can eat and play, and we are working on building even more community spaces as we welcome more team members back into the office.

We hire nationwide in all fifty states and arrange remote work with those team members who are not with us in Washington. But if you seek to relocate to work alongside the Seattleites, we will work on a relocation budget with you.

When working in gaming, you also need access to top-of-the-line hardware. We provide high-end workstations, not only for those who come into our offices. Via remote access, everyone working with us gets their machine to help make the newest, top hardware-demanding games. Our on-site IT team also monitors the health of these PCs and ensures smooth working conditions.

Finally, we established a tech stipend in 2020 to help team members who needed to upgrade their home PCs, internet, or home offices. We also offer a ?monthly technology stipend to ensure every Hardsuit Labs team member can continue to create and work in their ideal home office environment.

While this might seem like a lot, we are still constantly working on finding more ways to build our HSL community. In half a year, there will be even more to brag about!
