The Benefits Of God’s Knowledge, Part 3

The Benefits Of God’s Knowledge, Part 3

David W Palmer

Today, we see some more benefits of having God’s true knowledge revealed to us—If we learn from it and apply it. Tomorrow, we will look at some of the disastrous outcomes from not having God’s true knowledge; but today, let’s see some more of the advantages of making the effort to learn from Jesus and about him and his Father. Continued from yesterday:

6. Knowledge enriches the life

(1 Corinthians 1:5 NKJV) “That you were enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and all knowledge.”

The Holy Spirit here, through the apostle Paul, is saying that true knowledge from God enriches the life. So, this gives us another very good reason to keep on learning.

7. Knowledge brings stability, but only if we put it into practice

(Isaiah 33:6 NKJV) “Wisdom and knowledge will be the stability of your times, And the strength of salvation; The fear of the LORD is His treasure.”

Knowledge of God—through knowing him—brings rock-solid stability to your life. This is quite understandable, as obtaining correct knowledge of any situation is like shining a light into the darkness. Light always removes all the challenges of gloomy obscurity; dark simply no longer exists when the light shines.

(2 Corinthians 4:6 NKJV) “For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”

If you are going through dark times, under an attack from the dark kingdom, or facing a crisis from which you cannot see a way of escape, the right knowledge can help.

When God said, “let there be light,” it was absolute blackness. God didn’t say, “It’s so dark, nothing can be done about it.” He didn’t say, “I’m so depressed; all I can see is darkness on every side.” And thankfully, he didn’t just throw up his hands and say, “I guess it’s so dark that I will never see again.” No! God changed the darkness by speaking his knowledge into it; he said, “Let there be light.” He refused to yield to the prevailing oppression and dominating obscurity of darkness.

God says discovering, discerning, or receiving true knowledge is like switching on a light. When this light floods into your heart and mind, it eclipses all the darkness and ignorance; God’s knowledge shines on the true problem, it exposes the “fruitless deeds of darkness” (Eph. 5:11), and it shows the solution—how to solve and get free of the oppressive blanket of blackness.

I love the story in John 9 of Jesus making mud and opening a blind man’s eyes. Because of the revelation of God’s knowledge and the light it brings, Jesus could instantly see what the real problem was—something all the religious people couldn’t see or figure out over the entire 40 years of the problem’s existence. Jesus not only could see the real problem, he could see how to solve it: he anointed the blind eyes with saliva mud, and “sent” the man to the pool Siloam to wash; he came back seeing. The following is what Jesus declared about how he did this; he acknowledged that the entrance of light into the situation brought instant solution to 40 years of dark obscurity:

(John 9:4–5 NKJV) “I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. {5} As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

The entrance of God’s word brings light (Psalm 119:130). Through the revelation of his knowledge to you today, the Holy Spirit can help you see the real problem behind every encounter with darkness. What’s even better is that he can also provide you with a real solution today! … a solution that works no matter how dark and oppressive your problem is.

What’s more, Jesus himself said in Matthew 7:24: “Every man therefore who is hearing from me these words, and puts them in practice, I will compare him to the intelligent man, who erected his house upon a rock” (HNT). The idea of having your house built on a rock gives a picture of stability. However, Jesus makes it quite clear that knowledge of his will alone will not do this; obedience to his will is required to bring the stability that is like a rock—“puts them into practice.”

Today, I encourage you to regain hope; and to believe that through revelation of his word and knowledge, God can again speak light into the darkness that dominates any area of your life. Again, I encourage you to pray for his Spirit of wisdom and revelation plus knowledge of his will, then allow the Holy Spirit to lead you in a search for the hidden treasure in his word. Remember, if we obey what he reveals, his word will provide stability, light, and enrichment; it will enrich our lives in every way.

(Psalm 119:130 NKJV) “The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.”
