The benefits of giving thanks

An excellent way to give thanks is by, first of all, counting your blessings. No matter how bad things are in your life right now, there are more good things to be thankful for.

Do you want to reach your full potential? Then you must count your blessings. 

Do you know that it is a miracle that you are here in the first place? According to Mel Robbins, “Scientists have estimated the probability of your being born at about one in 400 trillion." 

Take a minute and wrap this number around your mind if you can. It is unfathomable to me, and I am in awe to be alive. No matter what you have been through is going through, and will go through, never forget that it took a miracle for you to be here. Out of all the trillions of possibilities, you and you alone got the honor to be born. 

You are not the result of some cosmic accident. There is a purpose for why you were created and placed here at this moment because you are needed. Therefore, don’t let the opinions of others and what you have been through to tell you otherwise.

Here is an excellent admonition that should keep you going no matter where you are right now:

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. James 1: 2-4

Counting your blessing does not mean that life is a bed of roses. Even if life was a bed of roses, you should know that there is no rose without a thorn. Therefore, you can count your blessings at all times and in all circumstances.

Do you want to reach your full potential? Then you must count your blessings often. Let this thanksgiving be the one you focused on counting your blessings and not wishing for better things.
