The Benefits of Gardening
Garden Gems Greenhouse will be celebrating it's 15th year in business this spring, and, as the Spring 2016 gardening season quickly approaches, I would like to remind you of a few of the benefits of gardening.
Everyone knows that "playing in the dirt" is a great way to relieve stress, but did you know that gardening can also grow your self esteem? It's so much fun, and exciting, to watch a seed that you, yourself, have planted begin to sprout and eventually produce a flower or food.
Moderate gardening is also a great way to exercise without becoming bored with the same work out routines from day to day. There's always something new to observe in the garden, and you'll likely forget that you're actually exercising!
Gardening is also a excellent way to get your daily dose of Vitamin D. Just 10-15 minutes a day is all of the time that it takes. Your mood will also be lifted when you're wandering around the yard and garden soaking up some sunshine!
Of course, reaping the fruits of your efforts is always fun. When you have more zucchini or tomatoes than you know what to do with, I'll almost bet you will make some new friends while sharing your crops.
Whichever you have, you will derive a great deal of satisfaction from a large or a small garden. A few weeds will probably show up at some time during the growing season, but pulling weeds is very satisfying, too!
I hope you have to chance to come & visit us this year. It's going to be an energetic season packed with new activities AND new plants to tickle your fancy. Bring the kids, too! They're always welcomed at Garden Gems.
