Benefits from being Kind

The world can be a pretty horrible place. The daily news is mostly negative. We have more access to that negative news than ever before. There is bad in the world. But there is also a lot of good. I believe that kindness makes the world a better place.

What is kindness?

"The quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate" according to the oxford dictionary. People think it is about being nice to others. Saying or doing the right thing. True kindness comes from the heart. It is about who you are inside. The actions and words are a reflection.

Can we be kind all the time?

Maybe not all the time but I do believe we can be the majority of the time. For me it brings me a sense of inner happiness. It brightens my day knowing I did a random act of kindness expecting or wanting nothing in return. I made a difference in someone else's life.

Kindness is free?

First place to start is by making sure you are kind to yourself. Forgive yourself - be kind to yourself. Then look for opportunities to be kind. They are all around you. Each act of kindness you perform will not change the world. It may change the day for the person. Kindness is a choice. It is a mindset. You have to want it. For me there is no other way to live. I do not believe there is any situation where you should not be kind.

Kindness benefits

I have been on this personal kindness journey for many years now. I believe I am happier as a person. I feel better about myself. I believe I have made a difference in many people's days and lives. I know it has helped with many of my relationships. I tend to cope with the negative in a much more healthy way and I believe I have a much more positive outlook on life and the world in general. For me it is a perfect circle. I give through kindness and I receive so many benefits.
