Benefits of chanting Shri Ganapati Atharvashirsh

? ????? ????? ????? ? Shri Ganapati Atharvashirsh is a mantra chant praising the existence of Lord Ganesha considering him the Lord first worshipped among all others. Gana-dheesh meaning adhipati of Gana i.e. Lord of Lords, Lord of intelligence,Lord of all wealth,Lord of Peace. Avartan means repeated chants like multiples of 11 ,21 or sahastra meaning 1000 avartan (Repeated chants) will yield you utmost peace, blessings and whatever you desire positive in your life. A hawan with Sahastra avartan will cleanse your mind, body and soul! Yes I have experienced it as a Brahmin several times. May lord Ganesha bestow you with the wisdom you seek to attain peace & whatsoever you deserve & desire in Life.

Firstly, 4 issues must be registered in to our brain thus: The usage of the word Ganapathy, though seen in Rig and Yajur Vedas, He is not the one among the 33 Vedic pantheon, but the word is taken functional and semantic perspective to denote either Brihaspati or Rudra Shiva. Some vested interested fanatic without authenticity incorporated Ganapathy in Mahabharata giving Him vocation of PC to Vyasa probably due to his enormous weight that would not allow him to do any other hard work.

Ganapathy in its current form as Moolaadhara deity got stabilised only during the 400-500 CE acceptable as the presiding deity to all sects in Hinduism and acknowledged even in Buddhist and Jain Texts. The Athavarshirsh Ganesha mantra is said to have been composed by Maharishi Athavarshirshaand this mantra text is nothing to do with the 108 Upanishads of Post-Vedic time. As like Gayathri mantra, it became more fashionable to adorn any God by cloning Gayathri mantra with the prefix X-Gayathri moola mantra, wherein X stands for any Ishta Devata, as we see of late: Rajadhi rajaya prasannahe Prathama mantraya dheemahi! thanno namo modi prachodayth!!

The Atharvashirsh Ganapathy Upanishad mantra can be recited by anyone who adheres to yama and niyama, irrespective of caste, creed, language and ethnic factors. Being a moola mantra, it will have its own effect even if one recites with faith or not, implying that it even transcends all religious barriers. Sacred heart is more important than wearing symbolic sacred thread with the mind filled with all sorts of impurity. Though recitation is recommended for 108 times or even 33,33,33,333 times at 1 stroke without break, even 1 time a day holding one’s breath, keeping the brain a clean slate, focusing on Ganapathy will suffice the desired purpose.

The moola mantra means that Ganapathi is the personification of Trinity, Agni, Vāyu, and Sūrya. He is Chandrama. He is earth, space and heaven. He is synonym with mantra OM. He is the embodiment of all Gunas, mooladhara is his permanent abode. Recite the moola mantra thus: Om Gan Ganapatye namah. All texts, whether Vedic or Bhagavad Gita, exhibit not only variations in interpretations, but admit as much allowances as possible to pronunciation depending upon vernacular constraint, since taken as a whole, the semantic aspect remains the same.

Panini, the celebrated Sanskrit grammarian, upholds the view that in case of dispute, the usage is to be given more importance than grammar. Recall the Sanskrit trained Kumbhakarna got his tongue twisted by Goddess Saraswati resulting in pronunciation blunder wherein instead of asking the boon nityatvam, prayed for nidratvam! Incidentally, we also know how the Lord is happy with child’s pronunciation of mantra, though worse than Kumbhakarna! I do not argue that intentionally you misspell and mispronounce the mantra to dispraise the God! But God will not revenge on you, if you with so much devotion and sincerity, with mental equipoise, recite the mantra, with or without knowing the meaning, but will bless you with all boons that you deserve!

As to the benefits of reciting Atharvashirsh Ganapathy Upanishad Mantra, it is the same routine response that you get from any god. To enumerate some of them: You will be blessed by Ganapati and he might even appear before you to give you your desired boons. All obstacles that you encounter in your dharmic life will be removed. He will ensure you Free Will to attain Moksha with grace exit. He will also bestow you all worldly possessions that gives you transient happiness and pride with power. In some cases, to make them repent later and come back to him, he will clear the way for ill-matched horoscopes to go for registration or elopement marriages, leaving the concerned parents depressed. Om Gan Ganapatye namah.

It has immense benefits. It is supposed to make you calm and stable in life. Tharv means hot, Atharva means cool. Atharvashirsh means one with cool head. I volunteer each year during Ganesha Chaturthi festival at our pandal for 7 days. It's 7 days of bliss. It's that time of the year, I get immense joy. I continue my practice daily it had made me much calmer and given lot of clarity in life. The participants of our group meet during Sankashti each month and do 11 Avartans. Atharvashirsh is bliss. Practice it for inner joy and peace of mind. It will make you calm and stable in life. An honest effort towards Ganapati Bappa even of you recite it once will complete involvement will bring you contentment and peace. Don't expect miracles but definitely obstacles if any in your path will vanish with sincere efforts. ?? ????? ????? ???????
