Benefits of ANCHORBIT?

Benefits of ANCHORBIT?

Introduction

ANCHORBIT? is a game-changer in the world of drilling because it offers several key benefits that enhance drilling performance and extend the lifespan of drilling equipment.

Key Benefits

First, ANCHORBIT? enhances performance by providing a rate of penetration (ROP) that is twice that of polycrystalline diamond compact (PDC) drill bits.

Second, it offers up to twice the lifespan of any PDC drill bit.

Third, ANCHORBIT? stabilizes the bottom hole assembly (BHA) and eliminates vibrations and damage to drilling equipment.

Fourth, it allows for better control of weight on the bit.

Economical

Moreover, ANCHORBIT? is designed to extend the economical drilling depth, which is especially critical for geothermal drilling projects. Geothermal drilling is shifting towards deeper formations to reach temperatures suitable for power production, which often involves drilling into basement crystalline formations. These formations are highly abrasive and damaging to any kind of drill bit. However, ANCHORBIT? is suitable for these hard formations where it can anchor even more firmly.

Plug & Play

Additionally, the ANCHORBIT? system is plug-and-play with existing infrastructure, making it easier to adopt and implement. The system also changes the economics of geothermal projects by extending the drilling depth and improving the rate of penetration, thereby reducing overall drilling costs.

Stabilization

Finally, the ANCHORBIT? system offers a solution to the problem of torsional oscillations, which can occur during drilling in long, narrow drill strings. These oscillations can cause stick-slip, which damages the drill bit and other components. ANCHORBIT? torsionally stabilizes the drill string close to the mud motor, preventing the occurrence of stick-slip and prolonging the lifetime of all drill string components. Even during the handover period between two sets of grippers, the system absorbs torsional oscillations without any interruption. Overall, ANCHORBIT? is a highly effective and innovative solution for drilling in hard formations, and it offers several key benefits that can improve drilling performance and reduce costs.

ROP is a function of revolution and DOC, the video says the WOB is like normal operations which is understandable to balance the forces out from the thrusting device and to not get axial forces over the anchor. So, with similar WOB, the ROP is depending on the revolution and here we only have the revolutions from the mud motor and no string revolution. I cannot see that this results in a faster ROP. The reactive torque from the motor will also be going into the anchors. It would be interesting to see the performance of these anchors in changing geological formations. In addition, the claim that this prevents stick slip is very questionable. Stick slip initiates (predominantly) at the bit/formation interface. And then there is the time needed to retract and extend the anchor... I hope someone can enlighten me why this is drilling faster.
