For the Benefit of Future Generations

This quarter’s theme is?Leading from a Place of Authenticity.?In the previous newsletter, I explored how we can embrace more authentic leadership by becoming more self-aware, communicating openly, and remaining willing to learn.

Today’s edition takes a different approach. It is written as a letter, almost as an appeal. The focus? Leading authentically for the benefit of future generations.

Letter

Dear Authentic Leader,

We all share a responsibility toward future generations.

Each generation comes with its own set of needs. At the heart of these needs is one simple but vital concept:?investment.

What do I mean by investing?

Every generation relies on the previous one to?invest?in it. Future generations require people like you and me to invest our time, support, and resources. They need us to model authentic leadership.

So, ask yourself:?How can YOU invest in future generations?

Investing doesn’t just mean financial contributions. It can take many forms, such as:

  • Intentionally mentoring young people in your life—be it a niece, nephew, cousin, student, or friend’s child.
  • Teaching valuable life and leadership lessons to the youth in your network.
  • Sharing opportunities with younger generations.
  • Passing along useful information to parents or guardians for their children.
  • Volunteering your time—whether that’s giving a talk at a school or supporting a youth organisation.
  • Referring young people in your network for opportunities.
  • Donating educational resources to schools or institutions.
  • Collaborating with young people on causes they’re passionate about.
  • Recommending programmes that align with their interests.
  • Dedicating time to help young people realise their potential.
  • Creating spaces to nurture the next generation of leaders.

Remember, the leaders of tomorrow are already within your current network!
