The benefit of a digital twin, a case study in the Gilbert River Catchment QWMN Forum – Post 8
Wendy Merritt and Joseph Guillaume - Research Fellows at ANU
?
In this QWMN RDI project, the kinds of digital twin models used to replicate build infrastructure systems are being adapted to see if:
·????????a time varying representation of a catchment that brings observed information and predictive modelling together will allow information, uncertainties and gaps, and potential improvements to build into greater understanding across a range of interested parties
·????????a catchment tool can be built, where imperfect information, the complexity of human environment and the variability of interactions over space and time can be observed and better understood
In this project the team aims to:
·????????Provide gradual improvement in fidelity over time (how well the digital twin represents reality)
·????????Facilitate communication and understanding amongst stakeholder groups
·????????Enable a complementary approach to existing water modelling paradigms
