Beneficiation Methods of Feldspar Ore

1. Hand-selected feldspar

Manual sorting is carried out according to the differences in the appearance, color, and crystal form of the ore, which can remove larger impurity minerals such as mica, quartz, garnet, tourmaline, and beryl, and obtain better-quality feldspar.

2. Feldspar washing

The water washing method is mainly used to remove impurities such as clay, fine mud, and mica in weathered granite or feldspathic placer. These impurities have fine particle size and low sedimentation velocity and can be separated from coarse-grained feldspar minerals under the action of water flow.

3. Feldspar magnetic separation

Magnetic separation is mainly used to remove iron-containing impurity minerals such as magnetite, hematite, tourmaline, garnet, etc., which can be separated from non-magnetic feldspar minerals under the action of a magnetic field.

4. Feldspar flotation

The flotation method can effectively remove impurities such as mica, iron minerals, and quartz, and increase the difference in surface properties between feldspar and gangue minerals under the action of flotation reagents to separate them from gangue minerals.

5. Gravity selection of feldspar

The gravity separation method is mainly used to remove iron-containing minerals, rutile, garnet, etc. Rutile, garnet, and iron-containing impurity minerals have relatively high density and can be separated from feldspar with low density under the joint action of horizontal and vertical water.

6. Chemical treatment of feldspar

The thin film iron and some iron-containing particles on the surface of feldspar can form easily soluble compounds under the action of acid. Sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid can be used to dissolve iron oxide and aluminum oxide so that the grade of feldspar concentrate can be further improved.

At present, the common feldspar beneficiation process mainly includes the following four types:

1. High-quality feldspar produced in pegmatite: Hand selection-crushing-water milling-grading.

2. Feldspar in weathered granite: Crushing-grinding-grading-flotation (removal of iron and mica or separation of feldspar and quartz).

3. Feldspar in fine crystal rock: Crushing-grinding-sieving-magnetic separation.

4. Feldsparous placer: Water washing mud - sieving or flotation to separate quartz.
