BENEATH THE LAYERS OF ME

Unending validation-seeking, the constant pursuit of being chosen, and the insatiable craving for being exceptional often lead us to create layers that do not truly reflect who we are. “Beneath the Layers of Me” is a poignant anthology that delves into the journey of self-love.

Beneath those layers is the home you belong to!

As we move forward in understanding the theme, here are a few lines that I would like to share:?

The scars won’t fade away easily if you choose to look away; they will heal if you choose to treat them right and gently.?

There will be days when you don’t want to look in the mirror, but a little courage to see your reflection might make you fall in love with the most vulnerable version of yourself.?

Self-love is not just something to write or talk about; it is something to feel about. The feeling that only you can sense. The feeling of comfort to yourself, the feeling of living and throwing those thousands of layers to express that one actual layer to the universe.

“If you were born with the weakness to fall, you were born with the strength to rise”?are wise words penned by Rupi Kaur in her book “Milk and Honey”.?

Every individual has a different approach to looking up at situations and creating imagery. For me, these words correlate to the theme of the book in a way.?

Everyone has vices that each of us tries to approach in a contrasting manner, and sometimes as humans, we fail. Instead of accepting ourselves or making it right, we give birth to a new skin that is not real.

Another powerful understanding of the theme

A layer emphasizes a huge mask that an individual wears to hide what is going on in their life. For example: When we meet someone, after sharing a five-minute conversation, an idea of who that person is, is created in our head. Sometimes that idea is a judgment. But do we ever think about how they might have gone through the hardest battle of their life just before we met that person? The sorrows might be hidden behind that mask of smile they wore while talking, or the tears they shed might be a part of their game.?

A theme she always had in her mind came to life when the opportunity of compiling her own anthology arrived. A strong vision explained by the amazing 43 co-authors, and the one that pushed all of them was our dearest editor! “I never thought I’d actually compile and edit a book.” said our editor in her note! But here she is, along with the co-authors, who helped her create this beautiful piece of art.

Reflections from a Co-Author

When I first heard about the theme, an instant connection arose since somewhere in our life, we all go through a phase where we layer ourselves into the false charm of life or judge people based on their appearances. I’m someone who loves writing narrative poems. I love to tell a fictional story through my poetry with the most realistic examples. I wrote a narrative of how when we watch a drama or theatre, we witness the acts planned for us but not what happens before those curtains are unveiled. We see what’s in front of us; the layers are always hidden!!?

What can the readers expect?

The whole motive of selecting a universally connected theme is to involve our readers.
