THE BENCH:RESPECT/NO SURPRISES
Over the years, The Bench has taught me many lessons that I take very serious in both my personal life and in my business career. Each morning as I prepare to go do my workout and the BENCH is the starting point, I know, UNDER NO SURPRISE, you had better be ready and you had better be prepared to either push yourself to do the work out right, have the personal discipline to push through the pain and get the results you want. When I hear others say things like, "I am just too tired to get up or too tired to do this each day, or work was so busy I could not find the time?" RESPECT yourself as a priority and go make this part of your day, no matter what, IF YOU RESPECT YOURSELF you do it.
So in the work world, under the same token, show respect to others , greet them, say hello, show them you acknowledge they are trying and in return expect the same from others to yourself, they can make the time, they can actually respect you in return.
The same is true about NO SURPRISE. I often become the most upset when confronted by a "surprise". In life and in work there are surrpises, but if you are trying to do anything in a planned manner, my workouts, I want to add anothyer 10 lbs to a curl, I have to plan for it, work at it and give myself a reasonable time to get stronger and if so should be able to achieve the goal.At work if you have a major project and the team knows the deadlines, knows that you are there to help and support, YOU EXPECT they hit the deadline. I always tell everyone, if you are in trouble tell me early so I can help versus keep quiet and "surprise" me with we will not make it. Surprises are a sign of disrespect and that is an absolute no/no in my world. You can disagree with me, you can debate me but never ever disrespect me. The BENCH is a hard and defined rule, YOU RESPECT THE BENCH, that 300 lbs. hanging over your head when you bench MUST GET RESPECT, so knowing you have a project and a deadline and missing without saying anything is unacceptable.
I worked at a company in 2023. They were famous for calling meetings literally 3 to 4 times a day just because the CEO wanted to discuss something, this was disrespectful of the staff and the time they needed to get things done. Added to this was the fact often the meetings were full of surprises, items no one was aare of or a priority that no one knew suddenly was the teams fault. This disrespect for the team, the poor leadership of the CEO showed up and everyone eventually left the turnover was dramatic.
REMEMBER, NO SURPRISES, keep everyone in the loop and RESPECT, we all bring skills and talents to the table respect that. Be kind to people they are people. If your life is miserable, that is your life spill onto the world is not appropriate so show respect, we all have baggage so your problem is your problem not the teams , be respectful they too have challenges and show support not negative vibes, show respect
