The BENCH:Respect & Surprises
I have often referred to what I define as my guiding principles in any business
The key in leading has always been around these 2 simple rules. If we agree to a plan as leader and executive, things may or may not go perfect to plan, but if we agreed to a deadline or a goal, I trust you and thus show respect to you allowing you the freedom to do the job

RESPECT, I will say that I have always believed that each person deserves respect. I felt that the roles, the gender, the ethnicity or any of today's buzz words never ever had anything to do with how one treats a person. You are owed respect as you have your own story, your own mission. I never walk into a room without knocking first even as the CEO, I will show respect to my team by knocking, I do not interrupt people when they speak but expect they will give me equal voice. People that speak "down" to others have no place in my world nor will ever be in my world. They may act or feel they are better but others are better at select things than they are I know this, I respect each person
SIMPLE RULES: NO SURPRISE and RESPECT, remember each and your team will honor and follow you!

1 年I also have the NO SURPRISES rule at The Pink Fund. We have a saying, "If no one is dead and no one is going to jail, most mistakes can be fixed." In my opinion, recalls are often the result of no one fessing up that something is not right for fear of career suicide, or delays in the project timeline etc. . . . I respect people who fess up and do so early.
