THE BENCH: NO SHORT CUTS
How many times have you been in a situation where you want to just get it done? I see so many new executives that say things like, I could do that, or that is easy, or why waste all the time to work at this when we could just do X. What they do not understand is it takes time, it takes focus, and it takes failure to learn how to do it the "easy" fast way.
The easy fast way most often took 10 to 15 years to learn, so strap in and strap up, the world of instant gratification is only in your AMAZON order, not real life.
I was working out the other day and my mind was in so many different directions that I was not really focused. I was doing "SCOTT CURLS", look it up if you have no idea. Well, with my crappy mindset, I was just not doing them well, I was not feeling the benefits and when I finished, I was not happy with myself nor the feeling of any accomplishment. What would many do? Just keep rolling, ignore the lack of hard work both physically and mentally, but does that help you gain in the long-term? Does that help you feel good about yourself and what you do?
Not for me, I know after years of this you have to fight each day to push yourself and have a goal to get better. SO, that evening, I went back down, loaded the bar up again and for 30 minutes just methodically went rep after rep from 50% body weight to 80% but totally focused, totally in the mindset of each rep right, each one feeling solid and, in the end, both mentally and physically I left on a high.
There are no "short cuts". And you know it, if you care you do it right, you build it right and you never ever take the lazy way out you take the winner route. Self-discipline, understanding the "feeling" of doing anything well and right educates you for winning when the hard times set in.
