THE BENCH: Short cuts?

Over the past month, I have been watching a series of shows that document athletes over the years and takes you from the start of a mission of success to ultimately reaching a life long goal. Each has a very different sport and each comes from very different backgrounds. Some were literally dirt poor, they on a great day ate bread and had water others came from families that could pay for top coaching talent to give them the edge.

Regardless of what was the start there is a common theme here and it all comes back to the BENCH. There is no short cut, in the end, they all had to show up, they had to work harder than anyone else to achieve the goal they had, but that is part of this. DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR GOAL IS? DO YOU KNOW YOUR WHY?

I always wanted to be stronger, healthier than anyone else, I did not worry if I were bigger or how tall I was rather it was always being stronger than anyone else, I could and would out work and out last anyone. As time went on from High school to college to career, that thinking moved to a career to be able to do anything and outwork and out think anyone, which cannot happen over night you have to show up and just put in the time each day. THERE ARE NO SHORT CUTS!

As I grew, we will call it wisdom rather than age, as I wish I learned faster in my youth, the thinking gave me the ability and the energy to do things others could not do, to keep my health and my activity for my family so I could do things with my grandson that others could only sit and watch from the sidelines, benefits from years of hard and dedicated work gave me a life style of joy each and every day. BUT 40 plus years of working at it no short cuts.

The lesson here is, stop thinking you can just show up 50%, or work at something worthwhile for 20 hours a week and be a success. Stop thinking everyone can do what they think a "influencer" does be instantly famous and wealthy, NOPE, show up, know what you really want, work your butt off to be better and stronger and smarter and you will in fact get JOY from the efforts and rewards from the investment. NO SHORT CUTS! But what a feeling when you look around and know it was all you, all your blood, seat and tears to get there!
