THE BENCH: DONE, I quit!
Have you ever? And I mean this just thought at the end of the day, I cannot do this anymore. I cannot stand the mission/vision or I can not stand my boss or my co-workers. Some very very lucky people live a career and a life, and I love this, how are you? The response is "Things have never been better!". OK, we see inflation is off the charts, pay is not keeping up, families can almost not make it each month, companies big and small are closing or laying off people and everything is perfect or better?
I often think, well none of my business but can you at least be real? And the ones that truly annoy are the individuals that will hate on the boss, hate on the job, hate on the coworkers, but guess what, they just go back for more.
THE BENCH has a hard line, you lay down on it, you put some weight over your face and YOU DECIDE, do you lift it or not? THE BENCH is not making you do it, the BENCH is not hating on you nor cheering you on. THIS IS THE LESSON. YOU MAKE THE CHOICE, you show up, you pick the exercise, you pick the weight, you fight to do better each day, so no one to hate unless you hate yourself.

Why is the job or work different? If you choose to pursue a career or a role, you can turn down roles, and promotions. You can find other companies to pursue roles with and you can ask to be on a different team or just leave. NO ONE has to stay forever in any role or deal with bad leadership. Yes, you might need a paycheck, but what is the role doing to you? Your health, your relationships, and by the way, your learning. How can you improve if you have no one to learn new things from? HOW?
I at one point stayed in a role much too long, it was easy, I had a good team, I enjoyed the office time and the flexibility it gave me, BUT, I stopped learning. This forced me internally to find other side roles, boards, new projects anything to stay learning. The lesson is, like being on a diet, you start to crave things. Smart business leaders CRAVE being better if you keep "starving yourself " you will eventually get a negative impact, so, QUIT!, Or tell the team, the boss, or whomever I need this to stay here and this is why, Quitting just like getting fired is not bad the are just stops in the road to redirect what you need to be and grow.
THE BENCH will never give me better advice than, be there what I do with it, how I use it, and how I leverage it is up to me. OWN IT!
