THE BENCH, Better late than never!

Like we all know, often life throws you curve balls and as such we have to make Lemonade out of lemons. The morale to this post is my family needed me more that me sitting to write a post on Wednesday morning as I normally do, but as the BENCH teaching goes, it does not mean you just give up, you fight through the issues, you get back on track once the right decisions get made and you go after what needs done.

The BENCH has taught me time and time again that moments force you to redo your focus at a moment, set back in your health your life your family happen. The key is taking these key moments, being able to honestly prioritize them so you know what matters most and what needs or perhaps most important deserves your attention. How many executives have you watched in business that just focus on the wrong priority? They chase the easy or the selfish or the pet projects while, as the old saying goes, ROME IS BURNING!

So this week, a family issue arose and that had me place my attention, my focus on what is the right thing. I may be a day late for this blog or maybe took a day longer to get an email out, today's AT&T outage in many ways is a blessing perhaps people we take a day not use the phone! Image that but focus on much more important issues.

During my career, I started to delay arriving at the office, as I found some people and some executives LOVED to make everything a crisis or a priority, so they wanted to dump them in my lap to solve each morning rather than figure it out. By delaying my arrival they were forced to solve it on thier own, so no calls go solve your own problems but maybe first make sure they are the right problem!
