Reasons why it pays to spend more with the right businesses...

I bought a pair of Prada sunglasses two years ago to celebrate my first £20k month and my first six figure year as an entrepreneur.

I’ve worn them pretty much every day ever since.

I’ve never worn a pair of sunglasses this much and had them still be in amazing shape.

I’ve even dropped them a few times (unintentionally) and they've remained unscathed when others would have suffered a different fate entirely.

Then, three weeks ago, my fiancé sat on them...

And they didn’t even break, they BENT.

Now this alone blew my mind.

Impressed with their superpowers, I took them to the shop (Prada on Old Bond St), to see if there might be a chance they could repair them - fully expecting to be billed for them to do so.

The store sent them off to Italy to see if the factory could repair them.

They couldn’t.

So they just replaced them.

Totally free.

A £290 pair of sunglasses.

For something that wasn’t even remotely their fault.

I didn’t even realise until I went to pick them up and they looked suspiciously flawless.

Now here's the thing.

I already bought a second pair when they sent those ones off, because they said it was going to take 6-8 weeks, and did I mention I love these sunglasses?!?

And I wasn't in the market for any other purchases today.

But I noticed myself feeling way more inclined to purchase additional products after such an amazing experience.

(I've got my eye on the red beauty below... isn't she gorgeous?!?)

I also noticed myself feeling a sense of deep connection to the Prada brand above and beyond that which I'd felt previously.

And now I'm writing a post that thousands of people will see bigging them up!

So here's what I want you to take away from this story

- Take exceptional care of your customers and they will never forget you.

- When you take amazing care of your customers they will TALK about you, and that, is THE BEST form of marketing you can possibly "do".

- It’s easy / easier to provide outstanding service when you charge premium prices as it creates the flexibility to be able to consistently over-deliver on the quality of your offerings and your policies without losing money.

- Lastly - don’t even try to compete with those that are not on your level.

Their people are not your people.

Do you think people go into Prada and ask why the prices are not the same as in Asda?

Unless you are Asda, your job is not to be the most affordable X in Y.

Your job is to meet a need or a desire that your customer has so effectively - and to do it in such alignment with your ideal customers’ core values - that price is secondary, or possibly not even a factor at all.

Did you get anything else from this story? Let me know in the comments.
