BEM goes to Patreon!

Hey everyone! I am excited to announce that I am launching a Patreon account! Why? Let me tell you.
For the last 10 years I have been designing gamification projects from the framework I co-created with my sister, Ana María Velásquez. By doing so, I have learned many, many things that I think are impossible to incorporate into a certification course, or any type of course for that matter.
Currently I am giving courses on gamification for teachers in several Universities in Colombia, and have been doing workshops and keynotes both nationally and internationally, with Gamicon being the one I enjoy the most! But no matter how many hours I can give, I always feel like I'm only scratching the surface in those courses.
And the reason is because, while I teach about how to use my framework, I am always learning and researching new stuff that can never be included on those timeframes. After 10 years of consuming information, there is just no way I can put it all out in the form of courses and lessons. So I want to create content that will be able to go deeper on gamification and that might reach more people.
I will still design certification courses for those that want to have a more methodic approach to gamification design through the BEM framework, but I want to make sure that those courses aren't the only way to experience my work, and are actually complementary. I have been writing articles for a long time and have been able to get people excited about gamification just using the written word: what could I achieve using other media?

But also, I dream of having more time for sharing what I have learned, and working on projects, as fulfilling as it is, is taking all my time away. My time is limited, and that means my impact is limited designing projects, so, I believe now, if I can get more people interested on Gamification, I could outsource those projects to other people and and keep researching and finding new ways to improve the field. The only way to achieve this in breaking my dependance on building projects to make do.
You will always find my latest research in places like Gamicon, but I have enough things in my head to make content for several years on this amazing topic. If I can manage to have a successful Patreon, I will get more time to think, research and share.
I will continue to create content for non Patreons, of course! Heck, maybe I will be able to create even more! But I do hope to be able to do amazing things in the future for the people that believe and want to support my work, from design tools, to special guests, to podcasts, to even creating games for you to use in your workshops or companies! So, even if right now my Patreon page is almost empty, I hope it will become a real place for shared knowledge, and a place to take gamification to the next level, which ever that is.
So, without further ado, the link for my brand new, and quite empty for now, Patreon page! Expect some videos this week!

2 年I've been lurking around your LinkedIn articles for a while now - your content and insights have been truly unvaluable. I gamified a whole course a few years ago, and good resources on (meaningful) gamification of learning have been scarce since. Happy to become your first Patreon, whoop whoop!
