Belt Conveyor Design

Belt Conveyor Design

Greetings LinkedIn Contacts,

I'm excited to share an exceptional learning opportunity from the Colorado School of Mines: Belt Conveyor Design - Engineering, Component Selection, Installation, and Maintenance. This unique program is for professionals in the bulk material handling industry to elevate their skills and understanding of conveyor systems to the next level.

Dates: October 16-18, 2024

We just wrapped up the first offering of this course in April and the feedback was extremely positive. The course in October will be even better as I tighten up some of the content, delete a a few slides, and add some more where there were questions!

Belt Conveyor Design Inaugural Class

Why This Course Stands Out

Unlike standard introductory courses or software-based training, this course delves deep into the practical and advanced aspects of conveyor technology. It's meticulously designed for design engineers, owners, and operators to enhance their ability to evaluate and improve conveyor performance and reliability. A copy of CEMA's Belt Conveyor for Bulk Materials, 7th Edition, in Spanish or English is included for each participant.

A Comprehensive Curriculum

Participants will gain in-depth knowledge about:

  • Conveyor component selection and design.
  • Conveyor Engineering Design using the latest CEMA calculation methodology.
  • Advanced, modern, and safe belt installation and replacement techniques.
  • Conveyor system monitoring and the utilization of digital twins.

Beyond the Basics

The course offers insights beyond traditional textbooks and software, providing an inside perspective from component suppliers and field service crews. Key focus areas include belting, splicing, idlers, pulleys, transfer chutes, and their integration in an overall systems approach.

Embracing Cutting-edge Technologies

Attendees will be introduced to leading-edge technologies reshaping conveyor systems, such as:

  • Laser technology.
  • Magnetic flux leakage scanning.
  • X-rays and RFID tags.
  • Thermal imaging and vibration monitoring.
  • Digital twins and artificial intelligence applications.

Who Should Attend

This course is ideal for stakeholders in conveyor systems across various industries, including mining, power plants, and grain and wood processing. It's particularly beneficial for professionals with a mechanical, electrical, or mining engineering background. However, the course content is accessible and valuable to those without an undergraduate engineering degree.

Global Relevance

With its wide applicability, professionals from major mining countries like Sweden, Australia, Brazil, Chile, and Peru will find the course extremely relevant and beneficial to their operations. Different methodologies from around the world will be discussed.

Really great class, very well organized, with very interesting subjects, lots of them not available in any book/standard, based on field experiences of knowledgeable people that worked/work on past/ongoing remarkable projects. Nice town, nice school, great lecturer, great attendees during the inaugural class, lucky me!
