Well, 24 Etruscan and Roman bronze statues have been discovered by archaeologists in the muddy remains of an ancient spa in Tuscany in Italy.?The find has been hailed as the most important of its kind in 50 years.

Besides the statues, tiny bronze replicas of human body parts (such as feet, hands, ears, lungs, hearts, intestines and livers) were also found.??The objects are thought to have been thrown into the thermal waters as gifts to the gods, by rich people hoping to be healed from various illnesses.?

Found during a dig between June and October, they date from between 200 BC and 100 AD.

RARE SEURAT SOLD

An early 20th century painting depicting three nude figures by George Seurat sold for $149 million at Christie’s in New York last Wednesday.??From the collection of Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, it was expected to reach $100 million.

Titled?Les Poseuses, Ensemble (Petite version)?the work is among the rarest paintings produced by Seurat in private hands.??The pointillist-style canvas drew four bidders, eventually selling to Christie’s Asia chairman.

The work had last appeared on the open market in 1970, when it sold at Christie’s for over $1 million.
