Not many people actually know that much about Belize or let alone where it is!
Belize is located on the west coast of the Caribbean Sea, so even though it is situated below Mexico to the east of Guatemala and above Honduras (which are all Central America) it is fully part of the CARICOM community. This makes travelling so much easier for the Caribbean nationals to visit this beautiful country
As my role here in Belize is to open a new boutique hotel I have a lot of sourcing, investigating and learning to do while I am here, now this is the fun part as you get to see and discover so much diversity, culture and wonders. Due to the location of Belize they have a melting pot of Culture here with so many different people all working here to deliver there little piece of Belize.
Here in Belize there is a diverse range of cuisine with melting pot of cultures, Belizean cuisine is like no other. Belizean cuisine reflects the countries culture and rich history encompassing a blend of Mayan, Indian, Chinese, Garafuna, Creole and many other cultures.
As Central America's gateway to the Caribbean, the beautiful beaches of Belize welcomed a fascinating parade of immigrants from remote corners of the globe. When all of these cultures came to peacefully coexist in such a small geography, their food was magically infused with a worldly flair. That is why Belizean cuisine today is unlike that of any other country, yet hints at certain familiar tastes and influences you may have experienced from all corners of the world.
Now for the Tourism side, due to its location the access from North America is relatively easy while from Europe it is a little more difficult with the distances being long and lack of direct European flights into Belize itself (The nearest options you have are into Cancun or into Guatemala)
It would be great if Belize were able to get or organise flights direct from Europe to Belize as the figures released from the Belize Tourism Board show that the interest for Belize from Europe is there and that 2-3 Flights a week could have a significant impact for the country (#belizetourismboard)
Belize Tourism - Where are the Travellers coming from?
USA 72% / CANADA 7.1% / EUROPEAN 14.9%
From the European side the breakdown is interesting
UK 25%
GERMAN 15%
FRENCH 11%
DUTCH 9%
ITALY 6%
Average Age Traveling?to Belize is that the Younger Generation are using the opportunities to get here, this would predominantly come down to that age bracket being the single or young recently Married (as it is a Honeymoon destination) But also there is a huge scope for the next levels to get here, it is just the information getting out there needs to be driven and a huge plan on Marketing the country (Once Airline deals are done)

Booking Lines & Ave Length of Stay?- Now this was a little confusing to me, but I soon understood the reasoning for the short time the Europeans are enjoying Belize and this is due to the fact that Belize is the secondary destination in there holiday adventure as they are not flying direct to Belize. If they had the option to fly directly we could see that double in the amount of days they would visit for. European like to book with TA/TO as they want to make a journey out of it while the USA & Canada want to make there own journeys, they are more likely to book a main adventure and then for the rest of the stay they would book on impulse or desire
USA – Mainly Internet - 6.4 Days?
Canada – Mainly Internet - 7.4 Days?
European – Travel Agent/Operator - 5.2 Days??
Activities in Belize are second to none?
Coming to Belize you are offered so many options from Snorkelling, Cave tubing/exploring, Canoe/kayaking, Fishing, Jungle Trekking, Sailing, Island tours and if you feel like doing nothing you literally can do this.
