Believing In Me Again!

I am Founder, I am a startup, I am a BELIEVER in the impossible! I will achieve all that I set out to do! I see what others do not and I am NOT afraid to walk the path alone, a path that scares so many that they choose to not walk it, not believe it even exists for them.

Why did I start this blog saying that? Simply, because sometimes you must remind yourself what you are, what your mission is, what you believe in and that no one or thing will stop you IF IF IF you keep believing in your vision and you. Do you believe? I do!

Then I stopped sort of believing and it has been a tough seven days, maybe 10+ for me. Not because starting a new company, launching a new app is difficult. Yes, as Founders in this startup world we all face the usual bumps, and roadblocks along the way to birth of your new “baby”. Those things are easy to deal with. They do not stress me out, derail me or keep me from plowing ahead on this path.

This past week or so has been stressful, draining, and grueling because too many have told me I cannot accomplish this. I need to rethink my strategies. What you are doing has not been done before, and how you want to do it is different than everyone else. It won’t work. You will fail. What is your back up plan, Scott? You better have one! Then those voices this week started creeping into my own thoughts and energy. At the beginning I was PERFECT at ignoring them with a smile. But then I let my guard down.

So, what happens? My energy shifts just ever slightly, and I start bringing more doubters to me. OMG I am attracting them, and they are trying to drown me! GO AWAY!!!!

I woke up today, and all week my body has been aching, my soul is tired. It is part of the Founders journey. It is a journey we take alone more than others realize. Yes, friends and family, others in our circle do their best to support us, and God bless them for that. Guess who tends to be the loudest, without them knowing it, that says the words “you can’t do this.” Usually, it is the ones closest to us. If you are not aware of it, it will make you go through what these past 10 days or so have been for me.

I recognized my energy was off a few days ago. Could not place my fingers on it until this morning. My usual 5am up and to the gym (and my workouts have sucked for over a week), listening to a book on CEOs who think differently, and I finally heard the words. “Everyone will doubt you, say you are crazy” … try to get you to think like the rest of the world and not take these CRAZY risks that in their eyes will not work out. You are about to run off a cliff in their eyes. Again, they do this because they care, they are your biggest cheerleaders and encouragers. They just do not understand that to be great, to achieve something that less than 1% of the 1% achieve, you MUST be different in everything you do.

I recognized on the treadmill that I let them creep in. I started to doubt myself. Even one of my venders told me last week what I am asking them to do will most likely not get the results I want. I told them I have faith in what they do, coupled with my vision, and we will overachieve.

Feeling better from my morning workout today, I head into my meditation when I get home. I set a simple intention, “Trust in God, go back to Him, He has my back, He asks so much of me but provides what I need, and this app is what will be my platform to change the world for Him.” Meditation was so peaceful this morning, unlike what it has been this past week or so. It lifted me up. The body aches are going away, and I am back to lifting up those around me. And more so, attracting people who want to be part of this grandiose vision of changing the world.

See, the life of a big dreamer is lonely, but with faith we know we will accomplish it all and more. We are strong in our faith of this outcome; thus, we are strong in repelling the negative thoughts and comments, no matter how well intentioned.

To all my Fellow Founders and startup people. If you are having a moment like I just had, stay strong. Go back to your center of energy that empowers you to dream bigger than anyone thinks is possible. Go execute daily on what it takes to turn your dream into a world changing reality. BELIVE BELIEVE BELIEVE in YOU! I believe in me again. I feel better and I absolutely believe in you too!

Together we stand. Together we are strong on this lonely journey. I am back to who I always have been at my core! I am back to knowing I will be successful!
