BELIEF WORK: Can you fall back into your old Self?

BELIEF WORK: Can you fall back into your old Self?

Recently in a coaching session my client said:

“I am afraid to fall back into my old self. I want to look at that fear in today's session.”

In this article I am going to share with you how my client shifted to more trust & inner peace.

First, I asked her questions to understand what she meant by “falling back”. She explained that even though she has made all that amazing change and she’s feeling great she sometimes finds herself in a situation where old patterns come up.

We then went into one of her examples and I presented her a different way of thinking. Her feedback was “Hmm I’ve never looked at it that way. I am gonna test that the next time I’m in a situation like that. But actually, I already know it’s gonna work. I can feel it resonate in me.” Hearing her say that made be super happy, cause it's the best indicator that she really got it. (If you want to hear more about that shift, I’ve posted a video about it here.)

That didn’t completely solve the bigger issue of “being afraid of falling back” though, so I asked her to go back and look at that idea again.

Yes, idea. Cause that’s what it is. An idea, a thought that goes “It’s possible that I fall back into my old self and then I lose all the progress and happiness I’ve created in the last few months.”

I asked how she felt when she believed that thought.

“Tense and nervous, I feel like I need to watch out and be careful.”

What if it wouldn’t be possible to fall back?

“Then this whole problem would stop to exist.” She thought for a few seconds and I could see in her face that something shifted.

So....? Is possible to fall back or not?

Well, that's up to us to decide. What do you think? If you're not sure, don't decide now. Read the rest of the article and decide then.

Why do we sometimes feel like we’re falling back?

Because growths looks like this:

Old patterns usually don't disappear within one day.

It’s normal that life has up’s & down’s.

But going through a down is not the same as falling back to your old Self.

In fact, I think it’s pretty much impossible to fall back to your old self, even if you'd try to.

Human development moves forward. As children we learn to walk. Are we ever afraid that we might fall back into our old self that doesn’t know how to walk?

No, of course not - that would be absurd.

Does that mean we never stumble again? No it doesn’t. We will stumble and fall down. Even as adults that can still happen. And then what? We go like “Whoops, I might wanna pay some more attention.” and then we move on. We don’t stress out over “falling back”. Developing the ability to walk is not that different from the personal & spiritual development we (hopefully) focus on later in life.

We might stumble or have “bad” days but we won’t fall back into our old selves.

That's what I choose to believe.

You are in charge of your beliefs. Test for yourself which belief serves you more.

Much love & cheers to your growth,

Jan

PS: I have 2 free slots for working with me 1on1 at the moment. I will help you to uncover how your thinking is keeping you back from achieving the results and feeling the confidence, abundance and peace you’re looking for. If that sounds interesting, let me know and we’ll hop on a call to talk about it.
