"A belief is only a thought you continue to think. A belief is nothing more than a chronic pattern of thought, and you have the ability – if you try even a little bit – to begin a new pattern, to tell a new story, to achieve a different vibration, to change your point of attraction."?

I've been thinking a little bit about energy, attitude, and the idea of "faking it till you make it".

Newsflash: I hate that concept.

I thrive on authenticity... but perhaps unsurprisingly I've be accused of being inauthentic more than once. And I get it. The idea of being as seemingly positive all the time doesn't feel realistic. So today, I want to touch on the idea of how much our thoughts impact our beliefs, and ultimately our lives. It's fascinating how the patterns of our thoughts shape our reality, and the good news is, we have the power to change these patterns.

Introducing My Live Album

I'm excited to share that my new live album is dropping tomorrow. This album is special to me; it's a raw, unfiltered expression of my journey through music in my earlier years. Each track reflects a segment of my exploration of embracing my thoughts and emotions, and at times, challenging them to shift towards a more empowering narrative.

Join the Celebration

No fancy release party this time, but I'd love for you to join me this Friday at Lost Generation Brewery in North East Washington DC. It's a chance for us to connect, share stories, and enjoy some good music together.

If you haven't been there before: it's a locally owned and operated brewery from an incredible couple: Anne and Jared, and [one of my personal favorite parts]: it's 100% dog friendly.

LOVE it.

Here's a quick recap about where my upcoming shows are:

Now back to our scheduled programming

I've always been fascinated with psychology. Even through middle and highschool: you'd find me researching mindset, thought patterns, what influences and why... so it's no wonder why I often look at being a musician almost like an anthropological study. Who comes to shows? Why? What music do they listen to, or vibe with? Why?

But What About how Music Influences Our Thoughts?

  • Lyrics That Resonate: Singing along to lyrics that reflect positive, empowering messages can subtly influence our mindset and self-perception.
  • Melodies That Shift Mood: Music has the power to change our emotional state, pulling us away from negative spirals and into a more balanced headspace.
  • Harmonies That Heal: The act of listening to or creating music can be therapeutic, fostering emotional balance and reducing stress.
  • Rhythms That Reinforce Routine: Integrating music into our daily lives can help cultivate positive habits and thought patterns. [Nerd alert: in this same way, it can also help us with studying and retaining information. It's one of the reasons why we sing the alphabet. IJS].
  • Songwriting as Self-Reflection: Crafting music is a form of self-expression and introspection, often leading to insightful shifts in perspective.

Even if you're not a musician though, I'm curious to hear about a time when you managed to find a positive angle in a tough situation. How did it change the way you thought about things? Did the music you listened to at the time help shape those thoughts? I remember as a teenager listening to a LOT of Korn, Linkin Park and Eminem to try and express my frustration... but when I started listening to Jimmy Eat World's "The Middle" and Gwen Stefani's "Whatchu Waiting For?"... it's bizarre how much of a positive effect that had on my psyche.

Music and thoughts are more connected than we often realize. Each has the power to influence and transform the other. I'm looking forward to diving deeper into this connection with you all.

Catch you tomorrow, and have an amazing day on purpose!
