It is time to get back to the numbers and statistics on LinkedIn. Today’s version of the Belgian LinkedIn Monitor will include:

Overall Numbers

As the saying goes…

“Again, something funny/strange happened on the way to the forum…”

?As I was compiling the numbers for this edition, something strange happened. When I searched for the total number of members in Belgium, LinkedIn gave me a different number every day, starting with 5.1 million, dropping to 4.92 million, going to 4.95 million, and ending up at 5.35 million on September 1st! Remember, the number displayed on August 1, 2024, was 5.67 million!

My only explanation is that when LinkedIn "upgrades” profiles with new features, it temporarily makes them unavailable in the stats. Another reason I came to this conclusion is that several Belgians contacted me with missing networks or even not being able to access their profiles….

But in summary, the numbers are

Activity Levels

“August 2024 has seen the fewest content creators In Belgium!”

As expected, activity levels always drop, and this year is no different. However, we have hit an all-time low with less than 95K Belgian postings! The number of people who have changed jobs remains the same, and companies are gearing up to find new people, with a record high of 115K job postings on LinkedIn.

So, the evolution of the activity levels continues downwards!

The job changers remain roughly at the same level.

We are looking at the sixth month in a row of an increase in Open Jobs

What is the evolution of advertising costs?

As expected, the cost of ads is again a tad down from the previous month.? For the fifth month in a row, the number is down. ?The August drop is minor compared to July.? I expect that the number will rise again in September!

?? The CPM drops to? the range between 18.12€ - 23.87€ for 1000 impressions in all test groups

?? The CPC cost lies now between 6.4€ and 8.5€ per click (0.1€ drop)

?? Finally, the competitive cost for job posts is still between 25€ - 35€ per day

?

We must remember that one of every four posts is Sponsored Content, so the competition for visibility remains stable. LinkedIn continues to earn more revenue from ads as companies are willing to pay for this visibility. What will the impact be of the newly announced Company Page Premium?

As I mentioned last month, I have looked at the ranges of bids suggested by LinkedIn.

?What is new on LinkedIn in August 2024?

?

It seems like fewer new items were launched/discovered on LinkedIn during this summer. This could be because people were less active or LinkedIn was waiting for September to make a bigger impact with new features.

LinkedIn recently introduced a time stamp on comments but has already removed this option.

I see a further “Videos for you” rollout on the mobile app.

?

The second novelty I want to put forward is that when you have premium subscription, you will have noticed a change in the “Create post” field.?

?

As you can see, August saw only a few minor changes, and let’s brace ourselves for many in September.
