Overall Numbers

As the saying goes…

“Something funny/strange happened on the way to the forum…”

The numbers for Belgium I drew from LinkedIn showed some interesting things:

?? The advanced search returned 5.67 million members and ended up being the biggest number of all 3 numbers you can get from LinkedIn.

?? In Sales Navigator, the number said 4M+ members…

?? Traditionally, the most significant number came from the ad module, but this time it showed 5.4 million members. Typically, it should be over 6M based on previous experiences….

?

Activity Levels

The number of unique content creators in July 2024 was 110K, meaning that the activity levels dropped to a mere 2.04%, the lowest number registered since 2021.

Few people announced a new job in July, which makes sense since it is a vacation month for many people. With 55K members changing in the last 90 days, this is also the lowest number ever since 2021!

Here is the evolution in the last 4 years...

Evolution Activity Levels 2021-2024
Evolution Job Changers

However, the number of open jobs on LinkedIn keeps going up. With 112K, it is the highest number since June 2021! In July 2021, LinkedIn did a major cleanup, and the number dropped by 50%!? The average since then was around 90K.

?

Evolution Open Jobs

Conclusion: July 2024 has been a slow month on LinkedIn compared to the other July months this year and past years.

?Belgium vs Europe vs USA

It's time for a quick comparison between Europe as a bigger entity and the USA. The overall numbers are even more odd.

?

Data from LinkedIn? searches

?? It seems Sales Navigator stops the count at 100M+

?? When it comes to Europe, the number is wacky because the Advanced search must be done by country.? The term "Europe" seems to be defined differently in all search engines on LinkedIn.

Comparison BE - EU - US

Looking at the activity levels in those 3 areas, Europe has the highest with 3.57% while Belgium and the USA are around the 2% mark.

We see the same trends in Job changes in the last 90 days. Europe (1.43%) is slightly higher than Belgium and the USA (around the 1% mark).

?Looking at the open jobs, over 3 million jobs are available in Europe and 5 million in the USA, which is no comparison to Belgium with 112K.? Keeping an eye on these running numbers for the future is worthwhile.

?What is the evolution of advertising costs?

As expected, the cost of ads is a tad down from the previous month.? For the fourth month in a row, the number is down.

?? The CPM is still set between 18.55€-24.35€ for 1000 impressions in all test groups

?? The CPC cost lies now between 6.5€ and 8.6€ per click

?? Finally, the competitive cost for job posts is still between 25€ - 35€ per day

?

We must remember that one of every four posts is Sponsored Content, so the competition for visibility remains stable. We continue to see LinkedIn earn more revenue from ads as companies?are willing to pay for this visibility.?

?

As I mentioned last month, I have looked at the ranges of bids suggested by LinkedIn.

?

?What's new on LinkedIn in July?

July has been strange for me because of my “troubles” with LinkedIn.? However, here are some things I noticed during the month when I did not have access to the platform.

  1. I discovered some items on the mobile.

In the “Notifications?? tab ?on mobile, you can now slide left and get a new menu that allows you to (?? Not Useful) & ( ??? Delete) – A neat way to clean up your

When I play a video on my mobile device, it opens up the video channel.

2. On Company pages, we now have as new items:

Company page Premium is being rolled out to a more extensive network of pages as shown below on the left at the bottom.

You will also have noticed that the Invite to follow your page has moved, as displayed on the left below.

Your New dashboard (right-hand side above) includes several new features, such as Today’s actions, Managing recent posts, Tracking your performance, and Joining conversations. This makes your Company page more attractive.

Some company pages will also have a Verification icon. This is invitation-only and will allow employees to make verifying their personal profiles easier.

3. Finally, the open profile and premium badge display have been moved up on your profile.
