The Belgian LinkedIn Monitor (2.0) - August 1, 2022 Edition

Mid-Summer Vacation is here and that is confirmed by the July statistics

We are now halfway through the summer and the activity level numbers reflect the vacation spirit.?Luckily LinkedIn announced that its membership grew to 850 million members worldwide.?In Belgium, the numbers remained stable with 4M members!?

Activity levels

For the 2nd month in a row, the activity level has dropped.?We are now at 3.75% of the Belgians that post on LinkedIn.

Looking at who is posting Senior people are the largest group with over 35%, closely followed by the Entry level people.

When we look at the activity level by a peer then Partners have the highest score even though they are a very small group.?We can safely say that within each peer group 10% and 15% are posting on LinkedIn.

Jobs & Recruitment

This is the 3rd month in a row that the number of job changers in the last 90 days has dropped.?

We also see a reduction in open jobs dropping to 83600 while the local job boards show an increase of open jobs!?

The conclusion is that July 2022 does not go into the record books in any shape or form.?I assume this line will be continued in August 2022 and we will only see a pickup in speed as of September or even October!

With over $5 million in revenue in the last year, LinkedIn’s marketing solutions are going strong but what does that mean for you and mean when it comes to advertising?

Here is a quick summary of the full Advertising monitor that will be published at the end of August. This is a Belgian focus

  • Belgium still has a 4.5 million addressable target audience of both residents and people who visited
  • Since June 1, CPM prices for sales, marketing, and financial audiences have gone up by over 6€ or an increase of 20%!?We are now looking at a CPM of at least 30€ per 1000 impressions
  • Over the same period, the CPC cost for these Belgian target audiences has gone up by over 1€ or an increase of 20% too!?The CPC cost has now surpassed 8.40€ for all 3 target audiences
  • The CPC costs for Text Ads have also risen above the 4€/click for all 3 target audiences?which represents a 15% increase!

  • Sponsored Messages are still off limits in Europe. It is rumored LinkedIn might be looking at alternatives but it is unclear what and when that will be available

3.?????What is new on LinkedIn?

As usual, LinkedIn keeps rolling out announced features as well as announcing new functionality coming our way.

?In the first category some of the new features are:

  • LinkedIn Audio Events are now available to all Content Creators.?The “death” of Clubhouse is now coming even closer as more people will be switching to LinkedIn to host their Audio rooms

  • “Save as Draft” feature: Both on mobile and desktop you can start your post and finish it later thanks to the ability of the “Save as Draft” feature

  • Carousels are coming and slowly being rolled out.?In the fall we should all have access to it

  • LinkedIn seems to be testing tabbed views on the mobile (Thanks @Kevin D. Turner)
  • LinkedIn also announced a new Business Manager for the advertising side of life. This is currently being rolled out.
  • Not only are Content Creators access to LinkedIn Audio but also Company Page in the near future. We are definitely seeing a further growth of Company Pages to be come full profiles like the personal profiles.

?Of course, more features and functions are coming and being developed. Some are more spectacular than others and some are more useful than others for the everyday LinkedIn user.

And how many of these 850 million LinkedIn users are fake profiles? In my experience there are many fake profiles going around, see my recent posts on that (including one claiming to be CEO of Google ).
