Belfast Met considers closing one of main campuses amid budget concerns

Belfast Metropolitan College is proposing to close one of its main campuses amid tightened budgets and a deteriorating building, the Belfast Telegraph reveals.

It is understood it’s about to launch a 12-week consultation to propose the closure of its Castlereagh campus.

There are around 130-150 staff, including part-time and full-time, based at Castlereagh.

But the college has said "no job losses are envisaged as part of any closure".

Kieran Donoghue is the new chief executive of Invest NI

Big news for Invest Northern Ireland as Kieran Donoghue jumps ship from IDA Ireland to lead the NI economic development agency.

But with big multinationals like Meta, Google, and Microsoft making the Republic their European headquarters in recent years, the pressure is on for Mr Donoghue to bring some of that stardust to NI.

His appointment as the fourth chief of the organisation comes at a turbulent time. Earlier this month Invest NI promised an overhaul of its leadership and culture as it aimed to address criticisms levelled at the organisation in an independent review earlier this year.
