Here are some recent snippets from my weekly review. Each week, I look back and record what I’ve been thinking, reading, and experiencing in the classroom and life. Learn, do, reflect, do better, celebrate, and repeat.

• Focus on what’s within my control, reflect regularly, and try to see challenges as opportunities for growth.
• Be willing to re-examine assumptions when facts don’t align.
• Kids need to be placed in situations where they are bored. Many great things come from boredom. Many kids expect to be entertained all of the time.
• Knowing where to find information is more valuable than memorization.
• Being wrong is part of learning.
• Each school building should have an award for the “well-balanced” teachers.
