Being unencumbered by words

Sue, when I was young my brother’s college roommate brought his parents to visit us. They were from a foreign land and the mother did not speak English. I can still see in my mind’s eye two mothers heading down to our large vegetable garden for show and tell. Playing frisbee. And that evening, on the back patio, pointing up to the moon and calling it by their own and each others’ name for it. So much communicated all day long with very few words. A day I will never forget.

I often feel we rely too heavily on words Sue. And often miss what’s really being communicated in the process!
