Being a Servant Leader & Parent

I often speak with my sales leadership team about the importance of practicing servant leadership. Applying hard work, and often making sacrifices, as a leader to better the life of other people around them.

In recognition of Fathers Day, I want to speak briefly about being a servant parent. If any of you are a parent, you know a lot of work goes into raising kids who grow up to make a positive difference in the world. You make sacrifices every day in order to create a better life for your children. I am very grateful for my father Stephen Joswick who was a servant parent. He sacrificed a lot over the years in order to provide the financial and mental resources for my sister and myself to pursue our career passions (attend college).

Here is a video showing a great example of a parent serving his five children in the most incredible way. He serves his kids an education that will last a lifetime and taught all of us a lesson we can all learn and apply in our own life.

What is the greatest sacrifice your father has made for you in life and what will you do this year to recognize him?

Love that video. That is servent parenthood for sure. I have learned about hard work, being grateful, and to be pleasantly suprised when I am blessed or given something that I certainly do not deserve.

Great question! Greatest sacrifice my father made for me was staying an unhealthy and mentally abusive marriage for 35 years for the sake of his children. What I will do to recognize my father this year and every year is show him how much he is loved, admired, prayed for and appreciated! This life is very short and our fathers need to know without a shadow of a doubt that they are as important and critical in shaping the lives of their children as their mothers are.
