Being self-taught these days
Michel Boustani
Turn your data into a story, into a game, into art. (Mark Sample)
I did not choose my life, my native country, my five fluent languages, my race, or my religion. I didn't choose the deepest desire to change the world at the age of five, I didn't choose to feel compassion for people who didn't have the comfort my parents gave me, I didn't not choose the ability to learn with natural ease most of the complexities of our world.
I did not choose the intuitive faculty nor the feeling or the imminence of a danger or a good thing in my life. I did not choose to cross two centuries and worry about the fate of our humanity.
Many take me for an oddity, others for a disturbing person. I wonder if some think that I suffer from mental health problems, if I am all this, I only asked for the right to live freely according to my skills and gifts that life has allowed me to have developed through many apprenticeships.
Today, I know who I am, as I sense who I’d like to be. Being self-taught is not a defect, rather, it is a gift that life gives us like all the rest of the beings of the world.
One of my dearest wishes is to take you on this universal journey, but don't worry, I'm not going into a kind of useless pedantry, I have both feet on the ground. Self taught people exist, I am one of them!
Until next time.
