Being Relevant!

So, the new HR technology is identified and arrives. A crack team is formed and they begin implementation meetings. Key people dismiss these meetings thinking this may not be important...the crack team applies best of their experience and judgement and implements a global best practice. User Acceptance stage arrives...leaders delegate the tests to operations teams...after all they will be the ones using the system.

Nerds and tech savvy employees within the HR function embrace new system. they begin playing with it and play long enough to cite improvements required...they improvise...people who see themselves as busy and important dismiss the new medium or tool as a bit of a new Wave and continue to "work." But ways of working are changing around them.

In couple of years ...people who understand those tools are calling the shots. "Work" is now centered around the new tools. Teams which designed...teams which tested and team members who applied themselves...now hold the keys to the future of business process. Design guys begin to improve the "Look n Feel"...they align everything to EVP!

There's never a guarantee that the next HR technology implementation is going to be the one that moves right at the center of the conversation. But HR leaders in the team can make a difference.

Was reading Gareth Morgan; While speaking about metaphors; he spoke about organisations as political systems. One of the ways that power and politics frequently come into play is because of a group of people being able to control technology. The para - "In a couple of years..." reminds me of that metaphor.? Good writing.?
