Being present has many gifts

Being present has many gifts

Glimmers - those micro-moments of joy - are incredibly important. Glimmers soothe your central nervous system. Being present and focusing on those micro-moments can extend the positive impact of a glimmer. Glimmers are fleeting but hearty. A glow is sustained and deep. As Nicky Edwards says: a glimmer is a spark while a glow is like basking the sun! To me, glimmers create a smile and glow creates an inner peace.

Recently, I've talked about how I pebble. Pebbling is one of my glimmers. Sending a text (often with a GIF), an e-card (and yes even paper cards) are in my glimmer toolbox. It brings me joy.

And, in all candor, I do this when I am sad, depressed, scared, frustrated, and so on. Pebbling has become my way of putting out into the universe what I want to come back tenfold. It takes my focus away from the negative and puts it on the positive.

Is this a form of "networking"? Well, yes, because networking is about connecting with people when you don't need anything but you want them to know how grateful you are to know them.

Being present offers many benefits including the opportunity to find and cultivate your library of "glimmers" and "glows". I hope your library is filled with both and that they bring you much eace and joy.

Thank you for this Pamme. I learned of glimmers several months ago and have embraced them in my daily life. It has had a remarkable impact on my daily life. It’s amazing! I have been spreading the news. Recently I was helping prepare a client for a tough hearing and we talked about glimmers. She said being mindful of glimmers really helped her reduce her stress in the says leading up. That’s only one story I have witnessed. This is a game changer!

I really like this. It’s the first time I’ve seen this applied to netwroking but it makes total sense. I used to struggle so much about being present. I was always present in the past or in the future instead of the now. Once I switched my focus, I’ve experienced so many amazing moment in life, especially with my wife and daughters that I wouldn’t have in the past. Great read Pamme!
