Being ‘Positive’!

I am a die-hard optimist! Well, at least I try to be always positive. Like looking for opportunities in every challenge et al. Yet, in this test, I did not want to be proved ‘positive’!

Yet, I did! I mean, I tested #covid positive about two weeks ago.

What I realized soon enough was, that this disease brings you to your knees pretty quickly. To begin with, I had high fever and sore throat that were clear indications that something was amiss. And then soon came the body weakness, that made me feel like sleeping all day long.

Though I pretty much isolated from the start, in a day my younger son tested positive. The next day my elder son started showing symptoms. Till then my husband was managing all the stuff around ordering medicines etc. And then in two days my husband, the last man standing, too tested positive!

In most diseases, the physical symptoms occur and are the major issue. In covid, the uncertainty and anxiety takes a mental toll, in addition to the physical hit. All the #resilience lessons that you may have gone through, suddenly come alive and yet seem to fall short. Trying everything from the book … self-healing to positive thinking to praying. You got to try everything that helps you overcome those initial few days when the bug hits hard.

The isolation and the logistical support to manage it all, is another draining aspect. Luckily for us my parents were staying across the floor and we could get support around food and things.

At this point, the biggest take-away - I would just say that keep safe to avoid it! This is not something you want to get. Like at all. It takes away your strength and it takes time for things to normalize.

If you do get it, just hang in there! Take support from neighbors, friends & family. You can always return the favor once you are ok. Follow the advice of the doctor and just focus on getting ok.

Lastly, just breathe ... lie on your stomach and deep breathe!

This too shall pass!
