Being a Part of the Crew

In response to having spent a few seasons locked indoors, a close mentor and great friend called me up early this spring. He poignantly and eloquently suggested, “Get the f*** out da house!”

Crass. But, he was absolutely right. I’d been indoors working on computer screens for far too long.

Work-from-home doesn’t work for me, not on a permanent basis at least. I thrive being around others and communicate best using real time, old fashioned eye contact.

In order to get out da house, I had to find the perfect fit between nature, human interaction and, if possible, anything related to the water.

Enter Freedom Boat Club - and yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like! With 300+ locations across North America and Europe, I found myself swept up by the tremendous growth and vibrant boating community in Canada’s capital city, Ottawa.

Jackpot! I was drawn in by the city’s two reciprocal locations and sarcastically wondered to myself, “Would this exclusive club want my inexperienced boating support this season?”

I was ultimately sold when learning their clubs provide members with only the very best-in-class service. That’s when I knew for sure, I could be of great value to the world’s fastest growing boat club.?

Fast forward to the start of boating season and I proudly find myself spending each day out da house and at the beach working on the docks, suddenly part of the crew.

For over a decade, I have provided clients, colleagues, and friends with my professional services in Communications, Community and Event Hosting throughout North America, Asia and Europe. Yet, this summer I choose to fill my cup with a whole new sense of satisfaction.?

This summer I give back, get a little sun-kissed and work-from-boats.
