Being open to seeing what is already there
How often do we see what we expect rather than what is there?
It’s not that we are intentionally deceiving ourselves. We’re just in a hurry, and our brain is filling in the gaps.
So re-reading Steven Pressfield’s brilliant book The War of Art yesterday was one of those ah-ha moments for me.
Are the things I struggle with, put off, or fear simply the resistance to my doing the things I am here to do?
And might this resistance be a clue I need to look at from a different angle rather than avoid?
Our job in this life is not to shape ourselves into some ideal we imagine we ought to be, but to find out who we already are and become it.
