Being let go—twice—was the best thing that ever happened to me.

If you have been let go, this post will help you to find a new identity and provide you with a tool to use this moment in time as a turning point.
Most people fear getting let go. It’s seen as a failure, a setback, a moment of deep uncertainty. I know because I felt it too. But not for long. Getting let go (twice!) was where I found my freedom fuel.
The first time I was let go, I was thrown into the unknown. Unexpected and with a very new, very large mortgage to pay, the shock, shame and panic kicked in.?
That day, I marched myself through the forest trails for 5 hours, processing. And the forest was where I found it - the fire in my belly. It was the catapult I needed to propel me into what was next. I was absolutely not going to let getting fired define me or knock me sideways.?
I took the opportunity to get certified as a life coach while I figured out plan B to pay the bills. I took a temporary role to reground myself before stepping into another full-time job.?
I thought I had found the perfect balance: security in my job while building my coaching dream on the side.?
Then it happened again.
The second time around, I harnessed a different emotion. Instead of scrambling to replace my job, I saw it as the door swinging wide open—an invitation to step fully into the life I truly wanted. This time, I was intentional. I spent time, resting, healing and finding peace with a new identity - entrepreneurship.?
Here’s what I realized through the process: our own perception, and our thoughts about who we are, are everything. We are valuable for who we are, not the title on our LinkedIn profile.
It’s not the number of hours we work that defines us, how long we stay in a role, or how many promotions we collect. What truly makes us valuable is how we show up—the way we lead, support, and bring value to our work and the team around us.
If you’re reading this and you’ve been let go, I want you to hear this: You are enough.
