Being A Leader Means Closing Some Doors

There are of course lots of perks to being a leader, but one of the drawbacks is that we can rarely go back to how we were before.

Of course we can quit when things get hard, but can you really go back to where you were?

I contend that most people end up in leadership out of frustration with the current situation.? The status quo niggles at them constantly until they finally can’t take it any more and agree to take on the responsibility of solving it.? Oftentimes when we take on that mantle we discover there was much more to it than meets the eye.

Our choice is either to press on and finish the job or quit and acknowledge it wasn’t quite such an easy solution after all.

The problem is, once you’ve been in that position of leadership, it’s very difficult to go back to the naive follower you once were.? Once you’ve had a taste of leadership, no matter how hard it is, going back is rarely an option.

Some doors are best left closed.
