BEING A KID, I THOUGHT: Everything I saw was Godzilla and more.

If Jupiter explodes, we will have two suns and night will no longer exist.

When I was a kid, my parents would put on a show that would discuss famous movie monsters. Unfortunately, I do not remember the shows name but however it had a long-lasting effect on me. As that show was on my television it started with King Kong 1933. Is showed the clip of Kong battling the Meat-Eater (Tyrannosaurus or Allosaurus). My parents innocently told me that Kong was battling Godzilla. From that moment on I thought Kong vs the Meat-Eater was the first match between King Kong and Godzilla. Then the 1962 film, King Kong vs Godzilla was the rematch. The show did not show the entire fight in which Kong kills the Meat-Eater. However, after a brief clip, the show instantly went into another clip which was from Godzilla King of the Monsters. The clip it showed was Godzilla using his atomic breath to melt the electrical towers to get into Tokyo. The clip really fascinated me especially the melt look of the tower. From this point, I some how in my young mind made a connection between the Meat-Eater and Godzilla. I thought of them being one of the same. In that I believe same year, my parents brought me to see Clash of the Titans. In that movie, my parents innocently told me that the Kraken was Godzilla. “Oh look, Godzilla!” Now as a kid I thought almost every monster I saw was Godzilla. Godzilla was now the Meat-Eater and the Kraken. Then finally, in The Empire Strikes Back, the Millennium Falcon was thought to have gone into an asteroid. However, they were inside a Space Slug. This time on my own, when the Millennium Falcon was escaping and I first saw this Space Slug I called it GODZILLA!

Besides the movies, the comic book character, Devil Dinosaur, I thought was Godzilla. What made me think that was Devil Dinosaur issue 9. When I saw the cover of the military battling Devil Dinosaur, I once again made another character Godzilla.

Godzilla was not the only monster I thought had many different appearances. The other monster was King Ghidorah, the three headed monster. When I saw Jason and the Argonauts of 1963, I knew who King Ghidorah was. But as a kid anything with multiple heads was King Ghidorah. For instance, when the Hydra came on the screen and attacked Jason, I immediately called it King Ghidorah. Similarly, in the 1963 film Captain Sinbad, there was a multiple headed dragon or hydra in which I called it King Ghidorah.

In closing, it was a fun childhood!?
