Being Intentional - How to Live a Regret-Free Life
In this week's "Raw Thoughts" article, I discuss the importance of being intentional with your time, relationships, and goals to avoid living a life full of regret. Learn how to prioritize what truly matters and make the most out of every moment.
Introduction: Good News / Bad News
Life is a precious gift that we should all cherish and make the most out of. Here's the Bad News - Unfortunately, many of us often find ourselves living with regret, wishing we had done things differently or made different choices. I think the first step is realizing what is truly important to you so that you can focus on those things. Which brings us to the Good News - Once you've accepted your past mistakes and begin to prioritize what is important to you, you can prioritize your day-to-day by being intentional with your time, relationships, and goals. This is a necessary process to living a fulfilled life without regrets. In this article, we will discuss how to prioritize what truly matters and make the most out of every moment.
Being Intentional with Your Time:
Time is a precious commodity that we can never get back once it's gone. Therefore, it's crucial to be intentional with how we spend our time. I would suggest to start by identifying your priorities as highlighted above and creating a schedule that reflects them. Avoid distractions and time-wasters that do not align with your goals. Become disciplined and stick to your schedule, even when it's challenging. Lastly, don't be afraid to say NO... that will be hard especially at first, but if it doesn't align with your intended goal (whatever that may be) don't be afraid to simply say NO.
Become Intentional With Your Peers:
There's a famous quote by Jim Rohn that says "You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with" - While this isn't always the case, the people we spend the most time with can have a significant impact on our lives. Whether thats intentionally or not consider your time, and energy allocated to ensuring that those that you spend the most time with should propel you to accomplishing your goals, and pushing boundaries within your life that you can live a fulfilled life without regret. Therefore, it's essential to be intentional with who we allow into our inner circle. Surround yourself with people who inspire and motivate you, challenge you to be your best self, and share similar values. Avoid toxic relationships that drain your energy and hinder your growth.
Being Intentional in What You Focus On:
In today's world, we are constantly bombarded with information and distractions, making it easy to lose focus. Last week, my primary "focused" article was on the 3D's (Distance, Direction, Distractions) and how you can apply this for goal setting. I want you to remember that your Intentional Focus determines your reality, by ignoring the noise and becoming discipled. In summary, you need to be consciously and sub-consciously aware of what you're focusing your time, and energy on the most. This will help you identify your priorities and eliminate anything that does not align with them.
Become Intentional with Your Goals:
Goals give us direction and purpose in life. However, setting goals is not enough; we must be intentional about achieving them. Make sure your goals are achievable within your own mind, and disregard anyone that challenges your self-belief in achieving your goals. I would suggest to break down your goals into smaller, achievable steps, and create a plan to reach them. Consider making daily micro goals that can assist in achieving your macro vision. Stay persistent and take action, even when it's uncomfortable or challenging. In my first 'Raw Thoughts' article I discuss my philosophy on "setbacks are setups " for your future. It highlights the opposition, and adversity that is necessary to overcome any obstacle that will come your way. In the end, your setbacks prepare your future and makes it easier to overcome the next obstacle due to your resilience.

Being Intentional in Your Relationships:
Our personal relationships play a significant role in our happiness and well-being. Last year, I went through a "surprise divorce" that I truthfully didn't see coming after nearly 8 years of marriage. I didn't realize how much happier I could be by just accepting what had taken place and moving forward with my life. My girlfriend, Ashley Alexiss helped me a lot during some pretty dark and depressing times. For context, Ashley and I dated right before I met my ex-wife so she already knew me, even thought we hadn't seen or talked to each other since 2014. I want to simply highlight my personal realization that it's so important to find a supportive partner and vice versa.
In conclusion, it's essential to be intentional about our personal relationships and how we nurture and maintain them. It always takes 2 people, but remember the entire purpose behind this week's #RawThoughts newsletter which is titled 'Being Intentional - How to Live a Regret-Free Life'
